Providence Health & Services Charge Capture Specialist in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Charge Capture Specialist to the Lab at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
In this position you will:
Act as a resource for Charge Specialists in assigned areas, defining principles of correct charging based on knowledge of coding procedures and health system standards.
Act as liason between HIS, Finance and assigned areas at Providence, to maintain accurate patient records and ensure charges are accurately captured.
Proactively look for ways to increase revenue by ensuring all procedures are billed timely and coded correctly.
Review HIS coding spreadsheet to ensure CPT codes have been appropriately assigned.
Educate staff on charge master and importance of correct charging and the need for appropriate documentation to validate charges. Communicate correct charging procedures and researches billing questions as requested by PFS and management staff.
Develop and maintain desk-side reference manual and coding library for staff resource.
Prepare current daily and monthly spreadsheets on department revenue and Status 1 and 2 Code patients.
Reconcile the ED patient records for each day to the JACHO Log to ensure there is a record for each patient registered in the ED.
Daily maintenance of the Epic Charge Workqueue List.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Proficiency with word document, spreadsheet, scheduling and presentation software applications
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Additional course work in secretarial sciences and personal computers
AAPC certification as professional medical coder
Four (4) years of administrative experience
Two (2) years of experience in a medical setting dealing with charge masters, billing, and coding
Database management skills
