Providence Health & Services Cook in Olympia, Washington
Providence is calling a Cook to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.
This is an on call position with variable 8 hour shifts starting as early as 3:30am and ending as late as 9:30pm.
We’re seeking a detail-oriented individual to be responsible for preparing food products utilizing basic and advanced cooking techniques, standard recipes and plating guidelines; and meeting production schedules in accordance with health, safety and sanitary procedures.
In this position you will:
Procure foods from assigned storage areas to prepare items as they appear on daily production sheets, cafeteria menu, and catering menus
Prepare hot entrees, vegetables, side dishes and other food products needed for patients, cafeteria, and catering
Accurately measure food products and adjust recipes in food preparation process
Insure nutritional integrity of food products by following recipes
Insure portion of food items are appropriate to type of diet being served
Required qualifications for this position include:
Associate’s Degree (AA), or equivalent from a college or technical school or formalized apprenticeship successfully
Current Washington Food Handlers Permit
Minimum of four (4) years professional line cook experience in a full-service establishment, such as a restaurant or hotel, where the majority of the products were prepared on premises from fresh ingredients using standardized recipes, may be substituted for degree or formalized apprenticeship
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Culinary degree from a college or technical school, or formalized apprenticeship; or equivalent work experience
