Providence is calling a Dental Assistant - Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to Providence Child Center in Portland, OR.
This position is part-time (16 hours per week).
Providence Specialty Pediatric Dental Clinic provides comprehensive children's dentistry to kids with special healthcare needs. In this position, you will:
Work directly with and under the supervision of the Providence Child Center (PCC) Dental Clinic Pediatric Dentist, General Dentist and the Dental Clinic Manager.
Be responsible for working chair side with the dentists, in the clinical lab, and the front office (administrative).
Be responsible for maintaining dental equipment, set up of instrument trays and operatories for dental treatment.
Schedule treatment appointments, aide in transporting patients into the dental operatory, manage dental records and supplies, exposing x-rays, instruct patients and families on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment care and perform procedures that ensure instrument and operatory infection control.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Certificate in Dental Assisting from an accredited program with Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification including Radiologic Proficiency Certification issued by Dental Assistant National Board (DANB) -or-
State certificate of Radiological Proficiency by the Oregon Board of Dentistry (OBD)
3 years of experience in pediatric dental practice or general dental practice with a pediatric patient population
In Compliance with the Department of Human Services (DHS), criminal background check is required for this position, based on assigned duties. Fingerprinting may also be required.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
2 years of experience in different aspects of insurance billing, patient billing and working with insurance companies to resolve complex insurance issues
Experience working with special needs and medically complex children and young adults
Experience with Dentrix dental practice management program and digital imaging software
Comprehensive understanding of dental procedures to assist with appointments and pre-authorization of operating room (OR) cases
Ability to speak Spanish fluently
