Providence Health & Services Family Support Specialist - NICU in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Family Support Specialist (0.25 FTE, Days) to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR.

We are seeking a liaison to work with the March of Dimes and Providence to help to educate and guide families through the time that their child/ren is/are in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit. Someone who can empathize with parents, and knows how to coordinate activities and share resources.

  • The shifts for this role will generally work-out to be two, 5-hour shifts per week.

  • Hours will flex based off of need of the unit and NICU families

  • Successful candidates will be self-starters, have great communication skills, be personable and will work well in a autonomous environment.

In this position, you will:

  • Develop and implement informational,educational, emotionally supportive and inspirational March of Dimes (MOD)programs to families of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) babies and to NICU staff within the NICU setting.

  • Abide by and promote the Mission and Core Values.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor degree -or- a combination of education and applicableexperience

  • One to three years of work experience delivering servicesto parents and families in a NICU or other inpatient Pediatric or similarsetting, or experience as a NICU parent
