The caregiver must be sufficiently fluent in the English language to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. The degree of fluency required will vary depending upon the nature of the position.

For direct patient care roles: Performs and maintains currency of essential competencies as required by specific area of hire and populations served.
TREATMENT PLANNING: Develops specific treatment plans in identifying clinical problems for individual patients and their families. Draws on the Medical Director and clinical staff in problem solving and planning at treatment team meetings or as needed. Is responsible for functions of assessment, charting, and discharge using the systems and procedures of the clinic for the patient and family treatment.
GROUP, INDIVIDUAL, AND FAMILY COUNSELING: Facilitates and co-facilitates groups, family therapy sessions, and individual treatment sessions. Draws on theory and experience to provide a variety of therapeutic sessions and interventions specific to clients and their families.
CONSULTATION AND COLLABORATION: Works cooperatively with other team members in providing patient care and crisis management. Establishes positive working relationships and role models health communication skills. Assists with orientation of new employees.
PATIENT AND FAMILY CARE: Monitors all patient and family progress in treatment and outcomes as a result of interventions. Provides structure and safe limit setting by developing therapeutic rapport with the patient and their family. Make ongoing assessments of patient's mental health status and assists in crisis management.
DOCUMENTATION: Documents a thorough assessment, including mental status exam, interventions and activities related to patient's plan of care. Participates in continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of the program's policies and procedures.
FAMILY INTERVENTION AND EDUCATION: Actively solicits parents and family members to become part of the treatment process.
Completes Competency Plan for assigned job and department.
Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or health related field
Family counseling or therapist experience
JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Requires knowledge of mental health issues, both theory and practice; crisis intervention techniques; assessment techniques; and understanding of family outcomes.
Requires strong interpersonal communication skills, group work skills, and knowledge of age appropriate developmental issues for adolescents and their families.
