We are offering Electrophysiology Lab Technologist who are not currently working for Providence or one of our affiliates a $15,000 sign on bonus to join our amazing nursing team! $7500 on your first paycheck and $7500 at 6 months. Repayment would be required based on a prorated amount if you do not complete the minimum retention requirement
Providence is calling an Electrophysiology Lab Technologist (EP Tech) (Cardiac Cath Lab, Day Shift, 1 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Responsible for patient care in electrophysiology Labs. Pre-operative preparation includes obtaining patient status report from Nursing Units, SP Documentation Sheet information, Permit, lab studies, Physician orders, IV site, pre-op medications, allergies, contrast history/information/teaching, vital signs, preparation of invasive procedural sites, EKG/physiologic monitoring equipment/positioning, and surgical preparation. Intra-operative includes, scrubbing, circulating, or monitoring the case and alerting Physician to changes in patient status, the administration of appropriate oral and intravenous medications under the direction of the performing physician, assures safe radiation protection protocol, maintaining good patient communication/rapport for comfort/status assessment, and vital signs. Post-operative includes SP Documentation Sheet information/vital signs, teaching, insertion site assessment, removing sheaths, applying vascular pressure, monitoring/alerting Physician to changes, and documenting reports to Nursing Unit. Works on-call rotation to meet the needs of the department after regular business hours.
Preparation of sterile procedure trays/set-ups. Adhering to "sterile" technique in all procedures (patient, equipment, supplies).
Maintaining communication with family and/or significant others before, during, and after procedure. Acquisitioning Pastoral care prn.
Accurate patient positioning and assistance in selection of radiographic techniques for optimal visualization and minimal radiation exposure to patients, staff and CV Physicians.
Directly assist the Electrophysiology (EP) Physicians with all EP procedures as scrub assistant, circulator, control-computer operator, responsible for proper image acquisition and archival specific to procedure type.
Assuring standard completion of patient/computer reports, calculations, and appropriate procedural charges.
Establish/maintain professional training/educational expertise through appropriate continuing education according to Departmental plan.
Promote positive working relationships and "teamwork" concept within Department and throughout hospital.
Able to assist in troubleshooting and minor equipment repair in Labs. Stock supplies, instruments, and equipment according to protocol and storage allocations. Alert/notifiy Supervisor, and/or management about equipment/supply concerns or problems with operational performance.
Participate in Quality Improvement Program and knowledgeable in its components and results that affect patient care and quality control issues. Participate in the orientation of new staff.
Responsible for review/knowledge of Departmental policies and procedures/guidelines, skills checklist, medications review, and safety and disaster guidelines annually. Regularly attend staff meetings, in services and skills labs.
Complete initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department.
Required qualifications for this position include:
If new graduate registry must be completed within one year from date of hire
BLS, ACLS, required within six months of hire
Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, invasive cardiovascular practices/techniques/pressures, basic EKG analysis, and emergency protocols/BLS
Ability to deal tactfully and compassionately with patients/families/significant others under potentially stressful conditions
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Graduation from an accredited school with supervised clinical experience in invasive electrophysiological procedures or equivalent educ/experience
ARRT or RCIS or RCES registered
Previous Special Procedures/Cath Lab Cardiovascular Technician.
Experience in invasive electrophysiological procedures
