Providence is calling a Family Therapist (Mental Health 4w, Days , 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
FAMILY THERAPY: The family therapist will be designated primary responsibility for facilitating family therapy sessions, family home contract meetings, psycho-education groups for families, and family exit interviews; psycho-education groups will include but are not limited to:

TREATMENT PLANNING: Participate in treatment planning meetings and assist treatment team in identifying clinical problems for individual patients and their families; assist in developing specific treatment goals and objectives; assist in problem solving and planning for discharge by using community and hospital resources; provide case management to include working with all members of the team to coordinate/execute optimal after care plans and follow-up treatment; primary responsibility for family therapy and assessment; participate in individual patient treatment and the functions of assessment, charting, discharge, and post-treatment planning using the systems and procedures for the adolescent mental health unit.
INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COUNSELING: Facilitate/co-facilitate group and individual therapy sessions; draw from theory and expertise to provide a variety of therapeutic sessions and interventions specific to adolescents and their families.
CONSULTATION AND COLLABORATION: Facilitate conferences, training sessions, and lectures to community mental health personnel to assist in expanding community understanding of mental and emotional problems as time allows; provide in-service training for MHU staff 2-3 times per year based on workshops and seminars attended; work cooperatively with other team members in providing patient care and crisis intervention/management; establish and maintain positive working relationships; role model healthy communication skills; assist with orientation of new employees; provide training and supervision for clinical interns.
FAMILY AND PATIENT CARE: Continuously monitor all family and patient progress in treatment and outcome as a result of therapeutic interventions; provide structure and safe limit setting by developing therapeutic rapport with patients and family; conduct ongoing assessments of patient's mental health status and assist in crisis intervention/management; provide family and patient education groups on a variety of mental health issues.
DOCUMENTATION: Document a thorough assessment, including mental status exam, interventions, and activities related to patient's plan of care; continually monitor and document patient improvement process; maintain a working knowledge of program policies and procedures; assist in development of policies and procedures related to position.
FAMILY INTERVENTION/EDUCATION: Actively solicit parents and family members to become part of the treatment/therapeutic process; orient families and patients to unit rules, treatment rights, responsibilities, activities, and procedures; review patient's plan of care including treatment goals & objectives, problems list, discharge criteria, and discharge plans with patient and family.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or Social Work
State of Alaska Licensure preferred in one of the following: LPA, LPC, LCSW, or LMFT.
Demonstrated experience in family, group, and individual therapy.
