Providence is calling a Manager,Social Worker LCSW Case Management and Social Svc, Days, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Manage, administer, and role model services within scope of responsibility to ensure high quality, cost effective patient services that meet or surpass licensing, accreditation and operational standards. Facilitates teamwork, participation, and cooperation; encourages caregiver self-development and uses appropriate interpersonal skills to guide others to accomplish objectives. Supports caregiver education and helps ensure that caregivers are qualified and competent. Delegates works so direct reports have the necessary direction, authority and skills to complete assignments. Develops and promotes talents of the team. Counsels caregivers appropriately and is competent in conflict management. Assumes caseload and supervisory responsibilities as required. Interviews, hires, and evaluates performance.
Apply leadership and management principles to support and optimize department and service operations. Be responsible for compliance with TJC, CMS, and other licensing and accreditation organizations. Utilize staffing management principles to assure adequate caregivers to meet patient care service needs and market demand. Plan for seasonal fluctuations and anticipates market changes which may impact volumes. Work with PHSA and Care Management leadership in exploring options for expanding and growing services. Participate in the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services needed to meet patient care and staff development needs. Exercise independent judgment to implement plans for operations in areas of responsibility. Be responsible for managing the day-to-day department level operational budget and in conjunction with others, assists in development of annual operating and capital budgets. Serve on work groups/committees as assigned.Facilitate the development and implementation of department and service quality improvement plans, addressing clinical, operational, and business objectives which incorporate appropriate aspects of the PHSA quality strategic plan. Improvement processes and key performance indicators are identified using Operational Excellence and other performance improvement tools. Lead department in developing, modifying and implementing clinical and operational standards, policies, procedures and protocols. Establish clear practice expectations consistent with professional standards for areas of responsibility. Direct and administer assigned functions to ensure high quality, cost-effective patient services which meet or surpass accreditation and regulatory standards. Stay informed of current regulatory standards. Maintains and guides the implementation of organization policies and procedures in compliance with state, federal and other regulatory guidelines. Assure adequate preparation for, and participate in, regulatory compliance surveys and audits.Collaborate with all levels of caregivers, providers, interdisciplinary teams, leaders, and other stakeholders. Assigns work and responsibly directs caregivers. Create supporting systems that enable caregivers to jointly plan and deliver care. Collaborate with care management partners and leaders across PHSA to share knowledge and improve services and patient outcomes. Role model collaboration and partnership with physicians, caregivers, patients, families, interdisciplinary team members, and other department/services. Schedule regular meetings with direct reports to provide supervision, assure communication and to monitor service operations; utilizes various methods to communicate with caregivers. Conducts and documents annual performance reviews with each direct report caregiver. Collaborate with caregivers, leaders, physicians and all appropriate departments to promote optimal patient care and customer service. Model and mentor Providence Health and Services Standards of Service Excellence. Actively promote the Providence Mission and Vision and reflects the Providence Core Values in daily service.Provide visionary leadership. Use leadership principles to anticipate and influence change. Determine resources and actions needed to accomplish objectives. Set priorities and manages time effectively. Identify potential problems/opportunities and plans contingent actions. Participate in development of new and unique ideas to improve existing systems or operations, when new organizational approaches are needed. Encourage innovative efforts in others. Seek creative methods to resolve conflicts. Promote interdisciplinary care of the patient.Maintain and use leadership, managerial, organizational and technical knowledge of areas of responsibility. Assume responsibility for obtaining information and expanding job knowledge and competency that reflects current practice. Role model personal development and education. Evaluate own practice in relation to care management and utilization review practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules and regulations. Obtain healthcare leadership specialty certification as applicable and able.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master Degree Graduate of an accredited/approved school of Social Work
Five (5) years clinical social work experience
Three (3) years Supervisory/management experience, preferably in Case Management
Ability to obtain unencumbered Alaska LCSW license by date of hire
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
3 years Clinical social work in a case management setting
Certification as an Accredited Case Manager from the American Case Management Association or as a Certified Case Manager from the Commission for Case Managers strongly preferred. Required within 18 months of hire.
