Providence Health & Services Supervisor, Diagnostic Imaging - St. Elias in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Supervisor Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology, Day Shift, 0.8 FTE) at St Elias Specialty Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position, you will:
Direct and coordinate activities of a radiology or diagnostic imaging department in a hospital or other medical facility. Reviews work schedules and assigns duties to workers to maintain patient flow and achieve production goals. Oversees staff in operation of imaging equipment, such as x-ray machine, fluoroscope, CT scanner, or Ultrasound equipment. Evaluates accuracy and quality of images and provides technical assistance to staff. Demonstrates new techniques, equipment, and procedures to staff. Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with regulatory requirements. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to top management. Plans and implements the overall diagnostic imaging policies, procedures, and services for several departments which may include radiology, computer-assisted tomography and ultrasound. Ensures efficient and effective departmental operations.
Perform a wide variety of Diagnostic X-Ray, CT technical procedures and protocols, maintaining high image quality accordance with department, hospital and national standards. Prepares examination room, and equipment and patients for scheduled procedures. Works on-call rotation to meet the needs of department and regular business hours.
Responsible for accurately completing daily records, daily quality assurance and improvement information, and meeting accreditation standards. Communicates with physicians, nurses and other members of the team concerning patient status, diagnosis, and related information. Operates multiple communication and telecommunication systems. Helps coordinate scheduling routine exams, tests, and daily add-on procedures.
Responsible for calibrating, maintaining and basic troubleshooting of diagnostic equipment. Optimizes equipment and supplies to maximize department operations, and minimize patient time.
Stock work area daily. Will be involved in stocking general supplies and ordering as requested.
Comply with department and hospital safety standards. Practices Body Substance Isolation. Completes education as necessary to maintain licensure or certification required for job.
Communicate with physicians, nurses and other members of the team concerning patient status, diagnosis, samples for testing or related information. Operates multiple communication and telecommunication systems. Coordinates scheduling of tests.
Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers/patients served.
Complete Competency Plan for assigned job and department.
Maintain team-oriented approach to high standards of patient care and patient flow through the department.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology
Must be ARRT or ARMDS licensed in Radiology
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Five (5) years experience in licensed modality.
Three (3) years experience in related field as a Radiology Lead/Supervisor/Manager.
