Providence is calling a Respiratory Care Practitioner, NICU (On-call, Variable Shift) to Providence St Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.

We are seeking a Respirator Care Practitioner (RCP) NICU PSJ who will provide respiratory therapy to neonates as ordered by physicians, according to established standards and practices.
In this position you will:
Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, improving organization performance program, infection control, and safety standards
Set up oxygen equipment such as high flow nasal cannula, oxygen hood and nasal CPAP. Administers respiratory treatment as ordered by the physician; charts treatment, response, and progress
Set up and monitors conventional ventilation, non-invasive ventilation and high frequency ventilation as ordered by physician
Perform endotracheal intubation on the neonate
Respond to L&D for C-sections and deliveries
Perform arterial and capillary blood gas testing and analysis on infants in the NICU and Emergency Dept
Participate in intra and inter hospital transports of sick neonates
Monitor environmental control systems and patients on continuous ventilation
Perform nasotracheal and tracheal suctioning
Observe patients, checks equipment, and makes changes as necessary during patient rounds
Perform insertion of percutaneous arterial lines in the NICU upon completion of NICU PAL competency
Provide quality control and maintenance on the blood gas machine located in the NICU
Stock and maintain equipment needed to provide respiratory support to patients in the NICU
Administer surfactant to patients in the NICU
Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings
Maintain professional growth and development
Required qualifications for this position includes:
RRT for all Respiratory Therapist applicants hired on or after 1/1/15
Note, Respiratory Therapists currently employed and credentialed prior to 1/1/15 are grandfathered as CRTs
Licensed in Respiratory Care in the State of California
Current BLS-HCP – Basic Life Support - for Healthcare Providers - American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer accepted on hire until card expiration date
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification
Experienced in neonatal intubation
One (1) year of Clinical experience in Neonatal Respiratory Therapy
Two (2) years of Clinical experience as Respiratory Therapist.
Administration of surfactant, as appropriate
High frequency ventilation, as appropriate
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty credential
