Providence is calling a Respiratory Care Practitioner, NICU (0.9 FTE, Night Shift) at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.

We are seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner, NICU who will provide respiratory therapy to neonates as ordered by physicians, according to established standards and practices.
In this position you will:
Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, improving organization performance program, infection control, and safety standards.
Sets up oxygen equipment such as high flow nasal cannula, oxygen hood and nasal CPAP. Administers respiratory treatment as ordered by the physician; charts treatment, response, and progress.
Sets up and monitors conventional ventilation, non-invasive ventilation and high frequency ventilation as ordered by physician.
Performs endotracheal intubation on the neonate.
Responds to L&D for C-sections and deliveries.
Performs arterial and capillary blood gas testing and analysis on infants in the NICU and Emergency Dept.
Participates in intra and inter hospital transports of sick neonates.
Monitors environmental control systems and patients on continuous ventilation.
Performs nasotracheal and tracheal suctioning.
Observes patients, checks equipment, and makes changes as necessary during patient rounds.
Performs insertion of percutaneous arterial lines in the NICU upon completion of NICU PAL competency.
Provides quality control and maintenance on the blood gas machine located in the NICU.
Stocks and maintains equipment needed to provide respiratory support to patients in the NICU.
Administers surfactant to patients in the NICU.
Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
Maintains professional growth and development.
Licensed in Respiratory Care in the State of California
RRT required for all Respiratory Therapist
Respiratory Therapists currently employed and credentialed prior to 1/1/15 are grandfathered as CRTs
Current BLS-HCP – Basic Life Support - for Healthcare Providers - American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer accepted on hire until card expiration date.
PALS certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN) upon hire
NRP certification from American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)/American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire
Experienced in neonatal intubation.
1 year clinical experience in Neonatal Respiratory Therapy.
2 years clinical experience as Respiratory Therapist.
- Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty credential.
