Providence Business Informatics Analyst – Epic Hospital Billing and Claims in California

Providence is seeking a Business Informatics Analyst – Epic H ospital Billing and Claims who will:

  • Serve as a professional role model in promoting the understanding, integration, and application of information services in a healthcare setting.

  • Acts as a liaison between revenue cycle and information services, supporting all care givers throughout the revenue cycle in the implementation, learning, use, adoption, and optimization of revenue cycle and/or managed care technology projects.

  • Support the analysis, implementation, evaluation, optimization, and maintenance of revenue cycle and managed care applications and projects for Providence.

  • Require team participation skills delivered in a complex, highly stressful environment, skilled use of revenue cycle applications, information services, Microsoft tools, and fundamentals of project and change management.

  • Independently work with clients, multiple IS groups, and leadership to ensure strong support in and success of each organization's financial KPI's and objectives.

  • As a subject matter expert is expected to demonstrate the necessary knowledge to pass EHR vendor certifications.

  • Brings a required comprehensive understanding of the full revenue cycle, best practices in their primary discipline, and how this translates to client business requirements.

In this position you will:

Education/Coaching:

  • Ensures that workflow and training knowledge delivered is consistent with and accurately reflects adult learning standards.

  • Communicates technology changes, optimizations, and upgrades to revenue cycle and managed care customers.

Problem-Solving:

  • Conducts workflow analysis to improve efficient, reliable use of the revenue cycle information systems.

  • Develops and maintains established standard of work.

Customer Service:

  • Responds and assists customers immediately upon request and follows up on previous interactions to ensure issue resolution, escalation or issue closure with as appropriate considering the dynamic nature of information systems and system priorities.

  • Able to effectively communicate to revenue cycle customers and is perceived as approachable and reliable.

Teamwork:

  • Demonstrates effective interactions and positive interpersonal skills in dealing with others in order to maximize productivity and positive employee relations.

  • Actively and efficiently engages with key leaders, teams and subject matter experts to collaborate on and influence the design and development of projects, curriculum and workflows, and the integration of technology into patient care processes.

Revenue Cycle Support:

  • Gains understanding of client key performance metrics.

  • Consistent delivery of readiness program for revenue cycle information systems.

  • Evaluates financial outcomes against key performance indicators with the use of revenue cycle and managed care information systems.

  • Supports customer access to and knowledge of operational revenue cycle reports.

Professional Development:

  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, projects, meetings, and workshops.

  • Frequently updates knowledge regarding revenue cycle and informatics trends, adult learning methodology, and issues and actively seeks opportunities to apply this knowledge to practice.

Working Conditions:

  • Fast paced environment with multiple interruptions.

  • Frequent travel amongst Providence, Affiliates, and Community Technologies sites (up to 50%) may be required.

  • Employee may be required to work variable shifts and weekends to meet client needs.

  • Reliable transportation throughout their home region and close proximity to a commercial airport is required.

Job Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively build relationships with customers, executive management, and other stakeholders through positive interaction and problem identification and resolution.

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and to organize workload to ensure that timeframes are met and the work is successfully completed within deadlines.

  • Ability to develop and deliver effective training delivery and/or presentations live, via online or virtual mediums.

  • Working knowledge of desktop software applications (e.g., MS O365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook).

  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment.

  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of end-to-end revenue cycle data streams and how Epic technology can impact the performance of financial metrics.

  • Ability to understand customer business needs, objectives and culture, while understanding their impact to PSJH organizational objectives, mission, and core values.

  • Demonstrates ability to pro-actively identify ways to enhance or improve programs, processes and systems.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Finance, Healthcare, or related field or equivalent education/experience.

  • 3 years In a position that has the same or similar primary duties working with a revenue cycle or managed care information system within a healthcare setting.

  • 2 years Working in an Epic environment.

  • Required within 90 days of hire: Epic Readiness certification or proficiency in one or more of the primary applications Analyst is supporting.

  • Required within 1 year of hire: Credentialed Trainer or Facilitator in one of the primary applications the Analyst is supporting, or equivalent for up to 2 years experience for this position at the hiring manager’s discretion.
