Providence Health & Services Senior Manager Reimbursement Revenue PSJH in California


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Senior Manager Reimbursement Revenue PSJH. This position is currently 100% remote. Post the Covid-19 pandemic, the role will move to a hybrid model of working both remotely and in the office. This position is open to candidates who reside in Alaska, Washington, Montana, Oregon or California.

We are seeking a Senior Manager Reimbursement Revenue to lead the Reimbursement Financial Reporting team focused on revenue analysis, business intelligence (BI) and accounting. The Reimbursement team is responsible for these functions for PSJH's $26b revenue portfolio. This position will serve in a high exposure leadership role and will have communication with system and regional executive leadership. The Senior Manager Reimbursement Revenue must have a detailed understanding of the patient accounting lifecycle and have previously worked with or consulted for a large-scale, multi-state health system. This role will manage the implementation of tools and technologies to drive consistent financial outcomes, which includes working in partnership with system and regional leaders who are developing strategic, operating, growth, and action plans. The incumbent will perform all duties in a manner that promotes PSJH’s mission, values and philosophy.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead analysis of complex revenue streams and identify impactful insights regarding key drivers with the ability to navigate competing priorities from system executives and regional leaders.

  • Lead communication to key stakeholders (at all levels) of business outcomes and performance with the ability to fill-in for Reimbursement Directors in meetings outside the department with other regional and system leaders.

  • Serve as a liaison between the Reimbursement Department, ministry finance leaders, 3rd party vendors and other IS and technical teams.

  • Provide well thought out, insightful and forward-looking guidance to key stakeholders.

  • Approve or deny recommended policy and procedural changes to ensure optimal revenue recognition and compliance with internal and external requirements.

  • Lead evaluation and preparation of various reimbursement optimization strategies and make recommendations that positively impact existing reimbursement schemes.

  • Lead special projects and provide finance support for Reimbursement, Finance and Revenue Cycle leadership.

  • Create tools to continuously monitor workload and methodologies used to achieve results, making recommendations to improve efficiency and/or achieve cost savings whenever possible; ensure all assigned statutory filings are timely and accurate.

  • Initiate and improve processes and procedures to enhance productivity and efficiency. This includes ability to recognize positive and negative team dynamics and recommend strategies to improve communication and workforce efficiency and teamwork both inside and outside the department.

  • Ability to oversee multi-layered team and coordinate large scale enterprise projects with both internal and external stakeholders in coordination with 3rd party vendors and contractors.

  • Manage a team of 6-7 caregivers This includes: hiring new staff, quarterly/annual performance meetings, day-to-day interaction to set priorities and assistance with professional development. Significant emphasis placed on career development planning with each employee.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Information Systems, Data Science, or Mathematics/Statistics or equivalent education/experience.

  • 8 years demonstrated experience in the healthcare finance or related field.

  • 6 years experience in a leadership role overseeing revenue operation or analytics in a multi state healthcare system or consulting.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent education/experience.
