Providence Endoscopy Technician - Ambulatory Surgery in Centralia, Washington
Description:
Providence is calling an Endoscopy Technician (1.0 FTE, Variable Shift) to Providence Centralia Hospital in Centralia, WA.
The Endoscopy Technician functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to assist with daily functioning and throughput of endoscopy, surgical and infusion patients at Providence Centralia Hospital Outpatient Surgery Department. The Endoscopy Technician is also responsible for cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining endoscopes. Other responsibilities include facilitating patient flow, obtaining vital signs and physiologic data for nursing staff, room turnover, stocking patient rooms, and ordering supplies.
In this position you will:
Assists with Endoscopy & Medical Procedures.
Assists in performing Endoscopy procedures in the GI lab, OR, ICU or ER through the utilization of specialized equipment and under the direction of a qualified physician
Assists in positioning and applying abdominal lift to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
Retrieves appropriate supplies as needed.
Demonstrates knowledge of specific equipment used during endoscopic procedures (i.e. hemoclips, balloon dilating equipment, esophageal banders, metal and plastic stents, fine needle aspirations kits, etc.).
Assists in implementing unit selected patient care activitie
Escorts/transports patients/significant others to unit in coordination with OPS staff.
Ensures correct patient by verbally verifying name and checking name band for pt DOB and name.
Maintains a soothing environment with warm blankets, explanations of what to expect, and actions to minimize anxiety. Reduces stimulation.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent education
Completion of a Surgical Technology, Anesthesia Technologist, Certified Nurse Assistant or Medical Assistant program
Current Nursing Assistant Certification in the State of Washington with annual renewal and/or Medical Assistant Certification in the State of Washington with annual renewal, and/or Surgical Technologist Certification in the State of Washington with annual renewal.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support ( AHA BLS) upon hire and then biannually
Preferred qualifications:
- Previous Endoscopy/Surgical Procedures experience
