Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) First Assistant (RNFA) (Per Diem, Variable Shift) to General Surgery for Providence Medical Group Southwest Washington in Centralia, WA.
The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a registered nurse with specialized education. The development of specific technical skills enables the RNFA to assist the surgeon with specific intraoperative procedures that are beyond the scope of practice for registered nurses without RNFA education and training. The RNFA may provide direct care to patients using the nursing process preoperatively, intraoperatively and postoperatively. Intraoperatively, the RNFA functions interdependently with the surgeon and applies knowledge, skill, and judgment necessary to assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation that yields optimal results for the patient.
In this position you will:
Provides visualization of the operative site during the operative procedure.
Demonstrates proper techniques to assist the surgeon in providing hemostasis.
Able to handle emergency situations.
Expedites the operative procedure by anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
Able to perform and maintain accurate sponge, sharps and instrument counts.
Demonstrates a professional attitude including communication skills, organizational skills and ability to work with others.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of recognized RNFA program.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
Preferred qualification for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree Nursing.
2 years Scrub experience in the OR or surgical assisting under direct physician supervision.
