The Infection Preventionist 2 is expected to work autonomously within the designated region and ministries. All Infection Preventionists (IPs) are accountable for implementation of and compliance with policies, practices, and processes of the infection prevention program at the ministry, region, and system level. In collaboration with the Infection Prevention leadership, and IP peers, all IPs will follow all current local, state, and federal guidelines, standards, and regulations. Infection Preventionists provide infection prevention consultative services focused on providing the highest quality care at the lowest cost to patient and organization. In this position, you will:
Create and maintain strong relationships with colleagues from key departments as well as key leaders within the ministry and region
Demonstrate understanding of high reliability principles through use of tools, tones, and behaviors that promote patient safety
Review, analyze, and implement regulations, standards, and/or guidelines of applicable governmental agencies, accreditations bodies, and professional organizations. Conduct activities to maintain continuous preparedness for survey.
Identify opportunities for improvement based on observations, process, and outcome indicators and other findings and utilize performance improvement methodology to create and implement interventions using current scientific literature
Demonstrate expert level understanding of surveillance data gathering, use of surveillance software, definition application, and reporting while mentoring and auditing the work of junior IPs
Collaborate in the development and delivery of educational programs that related to infection prevention, control and epidemiology while evaluating the effectiveness of educational programs and learner objectives.
Support patients, families, administration, committees, healthcare providers, and ancillary staff in infection prevention, control, and epidemiology issues at a regional level
Function as super-user for surveillance applications, building reports and queries as needed to respond to departmental data needs
Collaborate with community health organizations, departments of health, PSJH care continuum, and other regional and system infection preventionists
Participate in preparation of the annual Infection Prevention Program Risk Assessment and Plan. Select indicators and design surveillance based on the projected use of the data.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Laboratory Science, Nursing, Public Health, or other health-related field
Certification by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Prevention (CBIC) required
RN candidates must be licensed in the state in which they are applying
Six (6) years healthcare or public health experience
Four (4) years Infection Control and Prevention or Epidemiology
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Laboratory Science, Nursing, Public Health, or other health-related field
