This position offers up to a $15,000 bonus paid to newly hired (not working for Providence or one of our affiliates) CNAs with at least one year of experience.
$7,500 will paid upon hire, and the balance after 12 months of continuous employment.
Providence is calling a Clinical Educator (RN) (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) - Admissions, PACU, and Endoscopy to work in the Nursing Education at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in Everett, WA
The clinical educator is a registered nurse with expertise in education who influences professional role, competence and professional growth of nurses in a variety of settings. The clinical educator serves as an educator, change agent, facilitator, consultant and researcher. The Clinical Educator supports the development of bedside nurses and fosters empowerment through knowledge and skills to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidence-based nursing practice.
In this position you will:
Facilitator of Learning - Facilitates learning for clinical staff based on needs assessment and competency requirements for clinical areas served: • Develops and operationalizes effective methods of educating patient care staff focused on knowledge, skills and attitudes requisite for safe, competent and effective patient care practice. • Serves as a resource for development of educational programs and materials for staff and community through needs analysis, cost identification, selection of appropriate methodologies, format, evaluation and documentation of results and costs. Applies principles of basic educational research through the process. • Coordinates competency based orientation programs for new hires/transfers. • Plans, coordinates and conducts in-services on new policies, procedures and equipment. • Collaborates with other key stakeholders when developing, updating, and maintaining policies and procedures basing them on most current evidence. • Ensures that education is made available to staff so that OSHA, TJC, State of Washington and other regulatory agency requirements are met. • Promotes evidence-based nursing practice through assessment, dissemination of information, analysis of practice, coaching and mentoring. • Develops and maintains a level of competency appropriate to assigned practice environment and/or area of expertise. • Is a clinical expert in areas assigned, able to independently manage high-acuity, complex patients typically cared for on the unit. • Assesses competency of all nursing staff members in assigned clinical area through rounding, participation in learning activities, and interactions with documentation supporting presence on all shifts and weekends. • Develops and maintains collaborative relationship with unit leaders and staff with focus on education and competency needs of staff for assigned clinical areas.
Clinical Judgment – Demonstrates ability to utilize clinical reasoning, including clinical decision-making, critical thinking and the ability to see the big picture in individual and group learning activities: • Utilizes a variety of resources to assess, plan, implement and evaluate learning needs: electronic, individual, managerial and committee feedback. • Prioritizes multiple demands to identify critical educational issues, including when an issue is not educational. • Demonstrates effective use of appropriate teaching strategies to integrate clinical reasoning and critical thinking into education and learning activities. • Identifies needs for just in time education related to new procedures, low volume-high risk interventions, & new equipment in assigned clinical areas. • Serves as clinical resource for physicians, staff members and other departments.
Research and Evidence Based practice: • Demonstrates understanding of the Iowa Model of Nursing Research • Participates in and incorporate research and/or evidence based practice as an advisor, investigator, collaborator, translator, integrator, or evaluator. • Demonstrates application of clinical research in professional development portfolio • Augments professional practice through research • Integrates relevant research outcomes into learning activities. • Serves as expert in relevant clinical research for specialty • Serves as mentor and expert for staff conducting research projects related to unit based needs or higher education requirements.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Must have BSN (or Masters in Nursing) from fully accredited program. Masters – preferred in Nursing – or actively enrolled in program, projected completion 18 months from date of hire
Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Washington
Three (3) years related clinical experience in area of specialty
Adult Education – course development
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certification in nursing core specialty
Formal educator experience strongly preferred
