The Supervisor Technical Laboratory is responsible for assuring that work practices and procedures within the assigned Hematology department(s) are performed to meet high quality standards of patient care and regulatory requirements. This responsibility includes both 'working the bench', as well as administrative time for overseeing the technical activities of the assigned department.
In this position you will:
Technically competent with respect to all routine bench responsibilities as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in the division for which the individual is responsible
Able to perform hands-on work in the technical area when necessary
Oversight of the technical activities of the departmental division for which individual is responsible
Technical resource for TQS and bench staff
Complete and up-to-date procedures
Participate in instrument evaluations, recommendations
Validate new instruments for precision, linearity, and correlation prior to implementation
Coordinate technical and project assignments in the division
Liaison with vendors appropriate to the department
LlS maintenance and testing appropriate to the department
Assure compliance with CAP, JC, and other regulatory agencies
Appropriate and complete policies and procedures
Organized documentation consistent with accreditation requirements
Instrument/test installation validation documentation
Organize and coordinate orientation/training of new employees to the department. Also responsible for any additional training needed for current employees. Implements annual competency assessments:
Timely and complete documentation of training records to include workflow, instrumentation, and policies and procedures
Monitortraining to assess complete readiness prior to end of training
Complete competency assessment records
Organize proficiency testing within the department
Timely and accurate submission of Proficiency data
Complete review of results with troubleshooting forwarded to Med. Dir and Lab Dir for review
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree with certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP or equivalent organization
Five (5) years clinical experience with demonstrated technical expertise in the division for which the individual is responsible
MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP) or equivalent
