THE ROLE

The Chief Hospital Administrator oversees the planning, administration, coordination, and evaluation of Covenant Hospital Hobbs and its services. Directs and monitors to achieve and maintain quality patient care and efficient/effective daily business operations. Promotes an environment shaped by health, healing, hope, diversity, and mutual respect. Requires limited supervision/direction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for all identified outcome measures as denoted on Performance Assessment.

  • Provide administrative oversight for Covenant Hospital Hobbs including, but not limited to overseeing the planning, administration, coordination, and evaluation of its departments, personnel, medical staff and services provided. Oversight for Covenant’s operations in Hobbs, including hospital, Medical Office Buildings, and ambulatory businesses.

  • Direct and monitor staff to achieve and maintain quality patient care and efficient/effective daily business operations.

  • Assure compliance with standards established by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and other applicable regulatory agencies.

  • Assure that PSJH/CH Human Resources and Administrative Policies and Procedures are appropriately administered.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and performs in accordance with the philosophy, values, vision, mission, and strategic objectives of the organization.

  • Promote a work atmosphere conducive to caregiver and medical staff engagement, staff development and motivation by consistently demonstrating a positive and supportive attitude.

  • Maintain and coordinate effective relationships with medical staff, caregivers, patients and their families, and guests in addition to community and business leaders.

  • Exercise creative approaches to problem solving. Deal with conflict and problematic situations in an open and tactful manner respecting the dignity of the individual(s).

  • Provide the CHS Executive Management Team (EMT) direction on strategic planning, marketing, financial management, and/or budgetary planning.

  • Periodically engage in public speaking and in making presentations.

  • Promote safety in the work environment.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

Required experience/education for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Human Resources Administration, or a related field from an accredited college/university

  • License and Certifications dependent upon area of specialization

  • Coursework/Training in Computer applications, leadership skills, project management

  • 4 years of experience in the health care field/hospital operations or closely related industry

  • Generalist knowledge of all areas of health administration

  • Knowledge and in-depth understanding of reimbursement as it applies to rural hospitals and New Mexico legislation

  • Working knowledge of available outside resources to furnish information to system administrators

  • Knowledgeable in the principles of human resources administration, quality improvement, and JCAHO standards

  • Budgetary planning and administration

  • Strong management/supervisory skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships within and without the organization

  • Effective public speaking skills, as well as ability to develop and conduct effective presentations

  • Knowledge of and ability to use accounting methods and interpret statistical data

  • Computer skills (Windows-based software).

Preferred experience/education for this position include:

  • Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent from an accredited college/university

  • Prior physician recruiting and engagement experience. Demonstrated employee engagement and patient experience performance.
