Providence Health & Services Financial Analysis Consultant in Irvine, California

Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Financial Analyst Consultant to our location in Irvine, CA. This position is partly remote and at times will require to report on-site.

We are seeking a Financial Analyst Consultant who will collect and prepare data, analyze financial statistics and trend as relates to third party payor capitated contracts, to determine contract financial performance. The position is responsible for the accuracy, timeliness and validity of all financial reports provided to the Accountable Care team as it relates to risk model performance. Extracts data from a variety of systems, analyzes the data and presents it to management and others in a clear, concise and usable format in order to support key decision making at financial and strategic levels. Position must be knowledgeable regarding the various attributes of multiple unique financial risk arrangements throughout the system and prepare monthly reports on all arrangements. Position must interpret, analyze and make recommendations to senior leadership as to improvements in incentive structures. Position will work directly with payors on questions related to financial risk performance. Performs a variety of projects related to the analysis of financial data and the maintenance and development of data sources with a focus on driving change to a population health organization.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Complete complex financial analysis and reporting and summarize, analyze and interpret results.

  • Develop recommendations for contracting terms based on results of ongoing performance reports.

  • Prepare and present summaries of complex financial analysis both in written and verbal forms to senior leadership within the system.

  • Prepare, analyze and maintain data as required to determine third party payor contract performance for multiple unique provider risk and incentive arrangement.

  • Assume responsibility for contract financial data preparation, analysis, systems analysis and other financially related duties.

  • Prepare analysis to determine the financial impact of various rate proposals and provides appropriate recommendations during the contract negotiation process.

  • Communicate with external payor’s contracting staff to interpret and resolve differences in understanding in complex risk and incentive structures.

  • Model new options for risk and incentive structures using actuarially sound concepts for purposes of negotiating contracts with payors.

  • Complete, analyze, review and explain risk and incentive actual experience in external meetings with payors.

  • Complete, analyze, review and explain risk and incentive proposals in external meetings with payors as support to a contract negotiation.

  • Work with team to develop complex models that include multiple variables such as, but not limited to, reducing rates, lowering utilization, increasing services provided within Providence/Swedish and changing site of services.

  • Participates in month-end and year-end close meetings and provide insight into financial performance, risks and opportunities-as it relates to risk and incentive structures and other contract performance.

  • Works closely with leadership to identify opportunities and needs, reports findings, proposes solutions and drives change through analysis and business acumen.

  • Work with contracting and accountable care services to analyze and satisfy information needs through production of established reports or utilize various tools and applications to develop new reports.

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive data at all times.

  • Formulate recommendations for management to use in setting and realizing program and system objectives. Designs and develops reports by extracting data from a variety of system. Analyzes the data and presents it to management and others in a clear, concise, and usable format that corrective action or an opportunity can be realized.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other Healthcare related field or equivalent education/experience.

  • 10 or more years Experience in finance, contracting or a related field.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree.
