The Supervisor of CDI, will provide day-to-day oversight of operations within their service area under the direction of their manager or director. The Supervisor is responsible for leading frontline staff and to support the manager with administrative duties. The Supervisor will have expertise to enable them to provide leadership, consultation, and education related to the CDI program on matters of low to medium complexity. This position is a "working" leader meaning that there will be times where they will need to work in the capacity of our CDS staff based on business needs. In collaboration with CDI leadership, provides leadership in order to assess, plan, implement and evaluate delivery of team processes. In collaboration with leadership, is responsible to monitor program productivity, as well as analyzing and disseminating team data.
This position facilitates improvement in the overall quality, completeness, and accuracy of medical record documentation. Obtains appropriate clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and Health Information Services coding staff to ensure that clinical documentation reflects the level of service rendered to patients is complete and accurate.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Support leadership by providing day-to-day staff oversight while splitting time between managerial duties and frontline responsibilities.
Assess the technical accuracy, specificity and completeness of clinical documentation and ensures documentation explicitly identify findings and conditions present at the time of service.
Partner with educators to regularly report the CDI program performance, gaps, opportunities, and progress.
Able to breakdown raw information and undefined problems into specific workable components that in-turn clearly identifies the issues at hand. Makes logical conclusions, anticipates obstacles and considers different approaches that are relevant to the decision making process.

Maintain and apply up-to date knowledge of current clinical documentation practices to ensure the medical record accurately reflects patient care and ensures proper coding including MS-DRG, APR-DRG, ICD-10.
Knowledge and support of performance metrics for compliance and workflow optimization across revenue cycle operations. Embraces achieving best practices efficiently.
Identify risks and obstacles to plans. Defines scarcity and conflicts of resource needs, and potential constraints. Investigates risks within various organizational elements, assesses impact, and develops contingency plans to address major risks.
Understand the broader impact of work efforts across the revenue cycle function, critical business processes, and applications. Conceptualizes impact of changes upon workflow and best practices.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Five (5) years Nursing, CDI, or HIM/Coding experience in healthcare setting
Two (2) years ICD-10 experience and/or understanding
Two (2) years understanding of MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment and fundamentals of establishing a DRG
Two (2) years Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) operations
Able to lead/manage others
Instill commitment to organizational goals
Excellent collaboration and team building skills
Demonstrated customer service skills
Effective conflict management skills
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a Bachelor of Science degree in healthcare or other related field (Foreign Medical Graduate).
Two (2) years experience with EPIC, Meditech, Iodine, JATA Guide, 3M 360 or similar applications.
One of the following:
Licensed Registered NurseCertified Coding Specialist (CCS)Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or;License applicable to functional role
