We are seeking a Supervisor, Patient Access WD to be responsible for the 24/7 supervision of the on-site Access Services staff, which may also include PBX, patient scheduling, clinic registrars and off-site locations. Hospital Access Services departments facilitate patient, visitor and provider interactions within their ministry including access to both information and care. This position is responsible for staff scheduling and coverage, implementing a standardized approach in line with the vision of Revenue Cycle and accountable for quality results, caregiver engagement, and patient experience for the ministry. The supervisor will also oversee and supervise all areas of department operations, and ensure adherence to regulations, facilitating appropriate disaster response, as well as coordination with facility clinical and administrative leadership for processes integrated with Access.
The Supervisor assists in developing and executing a strategic plan which distinguishes revenue cycle as PSJH from its competitors in the areas of operational excellence, innovation, and customer service. This role is accountable for achieving Patient Access performance goals and financial targets within designated market(s). This position continually evaluates front end processes to ensure best practice standards are maintained and service and quality commitments are realized.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Demonstrates PSJH core values of justice, compassion, integrity, dignity and excellence to customers, employees, and visitors, and provides quality service in the performance of work assignments and duties.
Supervision of Access Services staff within responsibility area, including coaching and mentoring of staff for performance and development.
Development of staff schedules; responsible for approving timesheets and ensuring adherence to timekeeping policies
Leads or participates in planning of revenue cycle programs, improvements, service and direction as pertinent to area of responsibility.
Adheres to a standardized approach when implementing workflows and process improvements in line with the vision of Revenue Cycle.
Access representative on Service Area wide leadership/steering committees.
Accountable for quality results, caregiver engagement, patient experience and safety for area of responsibility.
Provides a central escalation and resolution point for facility and patient issues/complaints.
Provides direction and expertise in the analysis and development of programs both within service area and across enterprise, serving as a subject matter expert and resource for registrations to include non-Access departments.
Operational on-site 24/7 support for vacations, sick leaves and departmental coverage to maintain patient safety and service level agreements.
Serves and protects the hospital community by ensuring adherence to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements, as well as Joint Commission on Accreditation Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and/or Detnorske Veritas (DNV) standards. Compliance/Integrity representative for Access ensuring all compliance guidelines/standards are followed including CMS, EMTALA, HIPAA and others.
Promotes interdepartmental collaboration including meeting facilitation, process reviews and problem solving.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education/experience.
3 years experience in an integrated healthcare system in any aspect of access services or a related position.
1 year personnel management, supervisory or lead experience of a team(s) of 5 or more; 2 years experience preferred.
Demonstrates experience designing and implementing process changes, and successfully implementing standardized operational improvements, in collaboration with other leadership.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM).
Certified Revenue Cycle Executive (CRCE).
Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP).
