We are seeking a RN Resident Program Manager that will report to the Director of Education and Professional Development at Providence Medford Medical Center. Manage a team of Nurse Residents and Fellows and is accountable for their successful on boarding and orientation. Additional responsibilities are to support the general work of the Department of Education. These responsibilities include: Resident and Fellow development and enrichment via the classroom for Clinical Academy content and Core Fundamentals, facilitation of orientation to the nursing unit, assessing, assisting with implementing and evaluating competency development across the ministry, assisting clinical managers with workforce planning related to Nurse Resident/Fellow hires, and supporting new and existing clinical services through education and process improvement.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Provide for nursing educational opportunities for the entire facility as outlined by the Director for Education and Professional Development
Manage centralized education functions related to the Clinical Academy for Nurse Residents/Fellows, including coordination and collaboration with regional and system requirements, coordination of competency evaluations and assessment of clinical education impact
Provide direct oversight, coaching, mentoring, and evaluation of Nurse Residents/Fellows
Direct professional and support staff, assisting with education and staff development programs, orientation, competency evaluation, and ongoing educational assessment activities
Ensure the development and management of integrated education programs
Manage education programs to promote achievement of strategic goals, incorporating skills of education assessment, instructional design, adult teaching strategies, clinical competency evaluation, and on-going content maintenance to assure current practice is taught
Ensure that orientation and continuing education programs address critical thinking, technical, interpersonal and environmental needs of staff. Offers adequate in-servicing to ensure staff are trained on new procedures or equipment
Manage centralized education functions related to the Clinical Academy for Nurse Residents/Fellows, including coordination and collaboration with regional and system level educational requirements, coordination of competency evaluation process, and ownership of assessment and evaluation of clinical education impact
Maintain collegial relationships within the hospital, outside agencies, health professionals and medical staff by fostering an atmosphere of open communication and professional relationships
Collaborate with educators, managers, and work groups at a local, regional, and system level in matters related to clinical education
Ensure that the quality standards established by the nursing profession, Providence, and outside accrediting bodies is met through the education and orientation programs
Monitor effectiveness, satisfaction and clinical impact of the programs offered
Monitor compliance with and contributes to the building of the budget
Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to competency assessment, clinical orientation, residency programs, and clinical enrichment activities
Complete education-related projects and participates on committees and work groups as requested
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Current unencumbered licensure as an Registered Nurse (RN) by the Oregon State Board of Nursing
Membership in at least one nationally recognized professional nursing organization
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Two (2) years experience in nursing education
Five (5) years experience in acute care nursing
Two (2) years In a nursing management or leadership role (RN Relief Charge, RN Charge, or higher level leadership position)
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Master's Degree in Nursing, nursing education, or closely related field.
