We are seeking a Quality Improvement Manager - General Administration that will be responsible for managing the Providence Medical Group's (PMG) quality improvement and operational efficiency department in support of clinical, operational and service excellence. This position is accountable for supervising and directing the work of program managers, coordinators, and quality improvement teams and implementing resulting project solutions across PMG. Responsible for developing and propagating the discipline of quality improvement within the PMG using traditional/new QI techniques, particularly the Lean methodology. Plans, organizes, manages, leads and evaluates the resources, systems and services for PMG to support quality improvement and operational efficiency initiatives. Facilitates leadership/committee review of quality improvement and operational efficiency proposals, prioritization, and management in the following areas: budget, resources, scope, timelines, ROI, communication and decision support.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Provide leadership and support to PMG's quality improvement initiatives in pursuit of the Institute of Medicine's six aims
Co-chair the Operational Efficiency Committee with Operational Leadership. This committee sets the strategy for the PMG in relation to improvement in efficiency and standardization of processes
Lead the on-going cultural development of the Lean culture within the medical group, particularly focusing on our Lean training (RIL) and utilization of these tools in the clinics to drive improvement
Lead complex, multi-stakeholder collaborative with external payers and employers to support improvement efforts targeted at those populations
Facilitate the quality planning process across PMG, helping to identify strategic areas of focus, and quality performance incentive programs, monitoring and reporting
Provide primary staff support to Quality-related committee/work teams including agenda development, minutes, report coordination, follow-up and member relations
Oversee assignment of PMG staff to quality improvement teams, encouraging and promoting the use of continuous quality improvement tools and techniques
Develop staff to fulfill a role on quality improvements teams to obtain successful outcomes
Collaborate with Finance to incorporate projects' financial impact into long-range financial plans and operating budgets
Expand organizational knowledge on quality improvement methodologies/techniques
Ensure managers and staff are educated/trained on change facilitation (e.g., CAP, Work-Out) and quality improvement (e.g., RCI, LEAN) principles and techniques as appropriate
Collaborate to develop/implement communication plans and presentations to inform senior leadership and appropriate stakeholders of project status and outcomes
Acts as a liaison between teams and other departments/managers to achieve process and outcome goals
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration/Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field, plus five (5) years experience in similar role in a comparable healthcare organization -OR-
Relevant experience of seven (7) years in progressively responsible roles with demonstrated leadership experience in comparable or larger healthcare organization
Experience with managing highly independent and dispersed staff that works out at various clinics to drive organizational improvement
Proven experience with using Lean methodology and tools to partner with stakeholders to drive improvement in processes in healthcare
Demonstrated experience managing a diverse portfolio of quality improvement initiatives
Demonstrated expertise in project management
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Current certification (e.g., PDSA, RPI, Six Sigma, LEAN)
Project management current certification
Clinical and/or health insurance experience
Demonstrated CQI and change facilitation experience (e.g., PDSA, RPI, Six Sigma, LEAN)
Experience managing population health improvement and workflow enhancement projects
