Providence is calling RN Wound Care (0.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Milwaukie Hospital in Milwaukie, OR. This is an on-call position that will be used to fill open shifts in the schedule due to vacation, leaves, sick calls.
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Wound Care Coordinator that will be accountable for direct and indirect quality of care for patients according to the individualized needs of the patient, following the nursing process and in accordance with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act. The coordinator oversees the coordination for outpatient wound care as well as serves as a resource for inpatient wound care and skin issues
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Utilize the nursing process, assesses patient status, intervenes appropriately, and evaluates patient response
Establish a formal written plan of care for referred patients, documents specific nursing orders, and develops goals specifying expected outcomes of intervention
Assess health knowledge, learning abilities, and educational needs of the wound care patients and families and develops appropriate plans for teaching
Utilize all available resources and consults as necessary with members of the health care team in planning and developing individualized teaching and discharge plans
Timely completion of all necessary documentation, including outcome of interventions (according to wound care charting standards),treatment protocol utilized, response to treatment - physical and psychological, status pre and post treatment, complications and actions taken
Function as a knowledgeable resource person to the nursing staff in the areas of expertise, related to prevention and treatment of wounds of all types, and management of the incontinent patient
Assure that the specialty services and clinic operate within financial constraints and productivity standards
Coordinate scheduling of patient care in chronic, acute, assuring treatment protocols are implemented in a timely fashion, safely, and appropriately, according to indications/medical diagnosis
Work closely with Materials Management, the Wound Care SIG, and outside vendors as needed to coordinate availability of needed wound care products, and to improve quality of service to patients
Participate in product evaluation of new equipment and supplies related to areas of expertise
Assist with the development of nursing standards related to wound/ostomy care, including policies addressing clinic operation
Demonstrate advancement of professional nursing practice through both internal and external continuing education opportunities, membership in professional organizations, and participation on hospital committees
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Current registered nurse license in the State of Oregon
Certification as a Wound and Ostomy Certified Nurse -OR- Certified Wound Specialist within one (1) year of hire
Valid CPR card
Three (3) years of Nursing experience with advanced wound care experience preferred
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
