Providence is calling a RN - Resource (Full-Time/Day Shift) to Providence Facey Medical Foundation in Mission Hills, CA.
We are seeking a RN - Resource who will provide professional patient care for all patients following established standards and practices. Serves as a role model for Medical Assistants and LVNs by providing leadership, which fosters positive attitudes and change, as well as supports management policies and procedures. Trains and acts as a resource for Licensed Vocational Nurses and Medical Assistants.
In this position you will:
Act as a resource to LVNs and Medical Assistants, utilize knowledge of advanced nursing principles
Deliver upon the service expectations of both our patients and fellow staff members by listening to their needs; engaging in positive interactions; and following through on promises made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner so that their total outcome is better than expected
Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients
Perform and asses patient care skills of LVN’s and Medical Assistants, including but not limited too vital signs, history taking, injections, EKG, catheterization, Accu check, sterile procedure set-ups, assists with minor surgeries, pulse oxycemetry, phlebotomy, autoclaving and controlled substance counts
Mix and administer IV medications, per physician’s order and within the scope of practice
Perform advanced clinical procedures
Perform Telephone Triage
Assist with emergencies and minor procedures and/or directs care to Medical Assistants and LVN’s during these procedures
Provide accurate, complete, legible and timely documentation of all nursing procedures in the medical record and ensures proper documentation of LVN’s and MA’s
Demonstrate effective nursing judgment and a thorough knowledge of nursing procedures and practices
Communicate clinically significant information to the physician, including but not limited to, abnormal test results, patient concerns and changes in the patient’s condition
Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal direction adjusting to changes in workload
Demonstrate the ability to prioritize patient care appropriately
Follow correct procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous infectious waste
Ensure daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipment quality control and maintenance
Ensure ordering and maintenance of medications and supply inventory
Check for outdated medication on a monthly basis on the unit and crash cart
Comply with all applicable infection control and safety procedures
Provide direction to Licensed Vocational Nurses and Medical Assistants
Assist the Patient Care Supervisors with daily staffing needs
Provide input to the Patient Care Supervisor for periodic Performance Appraisals
Work in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards. Report any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline
Demonstrate awareness of current state, federal and local laws governing the delivery of care
Use appropriate reporting mechanisms as required by state laws
Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients
Obtain appropriate authorizations and consents for treatment
Provide open and timely communication with patients and their families
Provide sufficient information to allow patients and their families to participate in the patient’s care
Provides educational resources to the patient/family as appropriate
Demonstrate commitment to education and sharing of knowledge
Assist in the orientation of new personnel to the office and assess clinical skills of the LVN’s and Medical Assistants
Obtain ongoing education consistent with level and area of practice
Maintain current ACLS and CPR for Health Care Providers and other appropriate licensure/certifications
Participate in Quality Improvement audits
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Graduate of a recognized Registered Nursing program
Current California RN license
American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) & Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
Related specialty experience defined by the department
Two (2) years Medical office experience
