Providence Safety and Security Officer - EMT I in Missoula, Montana
Providence is calling a Safety and Security Officer - EMT I (Safety, Variable Shift, 0.0 FTE) to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. In this position you will:
Patient Care: Chest compressions and ventilations during cardiac arrest, assessing patient vitals and responding to BLS calls for service to assess injured patients, guests and caregivers on our two main campuses and a 250 foot doughnut surrounding our properties Decontaminate patients or caregivers exposed to hazardous materials utilizing the decontamination shower and mass triage tent.
Patient Transport: Conduct Basic Life Support (BLS) patient transports in support of St. Patrick Hospital for imaging, diagnostics, special procedures, N.B.M.I, and other services necessary for patient care. Assess and monitor patient condition in accordance with demonstrated skill level, individual level of EMS certification, transport vehicle license restrictions and patient’s needs throughout intra-facility patient transfers.
Emergency Response: As an EMT the Security Officer serves on the CPR Team, Trauma Alert Team, and Crisis Response Teams Conduct patient care under the direction of a medical physician as allowed by their level of EMS certification.
Communications: Maintain radio contact with the Safety Management Dispatch Center at all times.
Helipad Safety Officer: Serve as the Safety Officer for rotor wing aircraft landings and as patient transport Safety Officer/EMT from the helipads to the Emergency Room or other destination as required for continuum of care Perform chest compressions and ventilations as required for patient care to assist the flight team.
Safety Officer: Work closely with Hospital Leadership, nursing staff, Facilities Engineers, non-clinical staff, patients, and visitors to ensure a safe environment of care. Monitor Departmental Environment of Care boards. Conduct daily interior and exterior safety patrols (pedestrian & vehicle), completes Prisoner/Patient compliance checks, monthly emergency and safety equipment checks, quarterly fire drills, and addresses safety issues on the spot with available resources.
Serve as hospital liaison with Law Enforcement, Fire Department and Correctional Facility Officers. Carry out specific duties as required by hospital plans, policies, standing operating procedures and other duties as assigned by the Safety and Emergency Preparedness Director
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED
3 years experience as EMT/Safety & Security Officer, Level 1
Montana State Registry EMT-B or EMT-A Certified upon hire
Valid Montana State Driver’s License. motor vehicle record. and insurance or signed insurance waiver
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (Healthcare Provider) upon hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
2 years experience military, law enforcement or private security
Prior typing/keyboard experience required to enter and retrieve data in an accurate and timely manner
