Providence Health & Services Administrator, Providence Mother Joseph Care Center in Olympia, Washington
The Administrator of Providence Mother Joseph Care Center (PMJCC), in collaboration with the Chief, Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living and other ProvidenceHCC Leaders, is responsible for developing and implementing both financial and clinical strategies consistent with the strategic goals, mission and values of the Health System. It is expected that the focus of the position will be on developing and implementing operating systems that respond to changes in reimbursement while preserving the financial viability of the Facility. The Administrator is responsible for supervising assigned staff; maintaining and promoting staff relations through team-building and employee training and development; contributing to the continued financial viability of the facility and it's programs; and assuming an advocacy role in public and community relations activities related to care for the elderly.
The function of the position actively incorporates the Mission and Vision of Providence Health Systems.
Serve as a member of the HCC Leadership Team, working cooperatively with team members on the development and implementation of the SNF/AL service line delivery system in Washington.
Provide for effective management of the financial information and materials management at PSJCC, assuring that the facility is managed in a fiscally responsible manner.
Provide leadership to the organization to maximize quality, cost effectiveness and responsiveness.
Maintain high employee morale and positive relationships with employees and management staff to enhance productivity and the quality of work life in the organizations.
Operate the organization to ensure its financial strength, reviewing results on an on-going basis and taking corrective action to achieve the annual budgets of the various programs and services.
Provide leadership and work collaboratively with managers and staff to evaluate new opportunities and to develop programs and services that improve the organizations' market positions and meet community needs.
Select and develop managers and department leaders who will meet the organizations' goals and objectives.
Lead quality improvement activities that promote employee, physician and patient involvement in decision-making on work organization and patient care delivery.
Implement standards of service for care, oversee system for monitoring quality, intervening as appropriate to take corrective action and ensure accreditation and regulatory guidelines are met.
Serve as a member of the HCC Leadership Team, providing advice to other PSCS Executives and Administrators working collaboratively with team members to eliminate unnecessary organizational redundancy and duplication and to better meet the needs of the community for quality, affordable health care.
Represent the organizations to the communities served in an appropriate manner.
Assure effective direction of all nursing, rehabilitation and therapy services and appropriate training and development of clinical staff.
Provide direction for all social services, therapeutic recreation programs, dietary/food services and environmental services for the facility/agency.
Direct ministry to the spiritual needs of clients, their families and staff members and ensure that the values of the Sisters of Providence are present throughout the Center.
Direct the delivery of medical services in the facility/agency in accordance with all the quality assurance activities and programs.
In collaboration with the respective VP, direct Human Resources, Quality Assurance and Risk Management for the facility/agency.
Work in conjunction with the VP Skilled Care and Assisted Living to identify and provide effective and efficient delivery of health care and appropriate use of resources in the service area.
Exercise sensitivity to community needs, including the needs of the elderly and the poor, consistent with the mission of the Sisters of Providence.
Provide strategic planning and marketing direction; promote PSJCC through community involvement and representation of the facility’s interest to legislative and regulatory agencies.
Develop and maintain a strong role with the clinical staff in order to provide state-of-the-art health care service.
Keep abreast of trends and developments in health care in order to provide effective management of the resources of the facility/agency.
Attend staff meetings, in-service meetings and participate in facility committees or task force activities.
Ensure proper handling and disposal of confidential documents and adherence to all HIPAA rules and regulations.
Assure adherence to all policies, procedures and regulatory requirements with regard to infection control, universal precautions, sanitation, and safety and disaster preparedness.
Required experience/education for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration or Management or a Health-Related field
Licensed as a long-term care administrator for the State of Washington
5 years of management experience in a post-acute/rehabilitation and/or long-term care facility
Ability to communicate in English effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to follow appropriate communications channels
Demonstrated competency by maintaining positive, collaborative, and constructive interpersonal relationships
Understands and practices the principles of effective teamwork
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work assignments and meet productivity and quality standards
Ability to adapt easily to changes in work assignments and environment, is willing to assume additional responsibility and learn new procedures
Effective organizational skills
Ability to use standard office equipment including personal computers, telephones, copiers and fax machines.
Preferred experience/education for this position include:
Master's Degree in Health Care Administration or Management or a Health-Related field (Master's preferred to Bachelor's)
Proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
