Providence is calling for an RN - Community Based (1.0 FTE, Days) to work in Community Care Center at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.

The community/outreach RN is based out of the Providence community care center and works in partnership with the City of Olympia's Crisis Response Unit (CRU) to meet the intertwined medical and behavioral health needs of street dependent individuals in crisis.
In this position you will:
Demonstrates responsibility for ongoing patient assessment:
Within the framework of established plan of care determines the extent and frequency of assessment.
Independently, collects and documents routine assessment data used to modify and adjust plans of care.
Communicates relevant assessment data to RN and/or Provider.
Collects and processes specimens to include blood samples, urine, feces, wound cultures and sputum samples:
Collects samples using hospital standard policies and procedures for phlebotomy through peripheral venous access. Labels accurately, transports samples in a timely manner and reports problems and concerns to the Nurse. Utilizes bar code scanning process as appropriate.
Completes point of care testing and quality checks (i.e. urine dip, glucometer, beta HCG) following standard policies and procedures.
Participates in planning for psychiatric emergencies: de-escalation, risk assessment, triage
Maintains records of continuing education.
Seeks opportunities to promote improved patient care through participating in clinical process improvement projects.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient’s status.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the primary population of patients served in the department
Required qualifications for this position include:
Current Washington State Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
Completion of an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Class (ACLS) is required within 6 months of hire.
Participation in a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) class is required within 12 months of hire and throughout employment as a Registered Nurse.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred qualification for this position include:
- Experience working with unhoused individuals experiencing mental health and/or SUD challenges
