Providence is calling a Technical Laboratory Assistant III (0.6 FTE, 24 hours per week Days) to work in Clinical Laboratory Services at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.

The Technical Laboratory Assistant III is responsible for clinical laboratory duties to include, but are not limited to: Reception and Telephone duties, operating laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems, specimen handling and processing, shipping of Laboratory specimens for at Reference Laboratories. POCT(point of care testing) for: Influenza, RSV, Group Strep A, urine HCG, MONO, WBC, Hemoglobin, CMP, INR, UA and IFOB. Perform and document quality control on analyzers such as the Piccolo, HemoCue and Urocheck. Documentation on daily worksheets. Registering, ordering and obtaining patient samples per physician orders. Phlebotomy - collection of Blood samples. Obtaining blood samples by skin puncture and venipuncture. Therapeutic blood collection and Bone Marrow. Order and distribute supplies. Must have the ability to work varying shifts.
In this position you will:
Perform reception and telephone duties
Demonstrate knowledge of the unit’s testing procedures, systems and databases as necessary to the position:
Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to perform phlebotomy/capillary puncture and blood draw per approved MA-Phlebotomist Certification Licensure Class or MA - Certification Course
Perform office/clerical tasks such as filing, copying, and typing
Clean and maintain equipment and keeps the laboratory area clean and orderly
High School. Diploma or GED
Medical Assistant Program or Phlebotomy training Program/Course approved by state of WA
Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist Certification (MA-P) or Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C) approved by state of WA
5 years experience as a MA-C or TLA Certified demonstrating high standards in Providence core values and/or perform other duties such as; Super user, train new hires and two or more of the following: process improvements, QA review and special projects
- Current CLP (ASCP) Registered Phlebotomist or equivalent certification
