Providence Anesthesia Technician in Portland, Oregon

Providence is calling an Anesthesia Technician (0.6 FTE, Variable/Rotating) to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.
The schedule for this position is 7:00am - 7:30pm working Saturdays and Sundays.
We are seeking an Anesthesia Technician, Non-Certified - Anesthesiology that will function as a member of the surgical team under the direct supervision of a registered perioperative nurse. Supports the anesthesia providers by the preparation and set up of appropriate equipment and supplies for each surgical case. This includes connecting monitoring lines, preparing infusion sets, and operating all common physiological monitors. The incumbent must be able to apply several specialized tests. May provide limited patient care as needed by assisting with prepping and opening supplies before surgery.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Assist with patient care as directed by RN including assisting with patient admission, care, transfer, and discharge
Assist RN to provide appropriate environment, equipment, transport devices, and supplies according to age, size, weight and condition of patient
Report all observations concerning patients to RN
Utilize infection control principles
Maintain an orderly, clean and safe environment
Utilize Aseptic Technique, while performing duties as appropriate
Support department as needed by ordering and organization of forms, and by maintaining stock levels
Support department by transporting patients and assisting with change-over activities
Assist with orientation of perioperative assistants and technicians as requested
Perform anesthesia changeovers: i.e. changes breathing circuit, masks, bags, laryngeal masks and laryngoscope blades
Assist with calibration of anesthesia and monitoring equipment (blood gas machine, accu-check, ACT, arterial pressure machine)
Prepare invasive lines using aseptic technique and calibration of associated equipment
Ensure that all non-schedule medications and supplies are available to the anesthesia provider for each case
Accurately transport nonscheduled medications to appropriate procedural areas
Keep a constant inventory of all medications, IV solutions, inhalation anesthetics, and other expendable supplies
Perform cell saving duties including the preparation, operation and maintenance of cell saving machines
Maintain equipment including routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and quality control checks as appropriate
Assist the anesthesia provider with patient airway management on a routine or emergent basis by assisting with flexible bronchoscopy
Clean and disinfect the bronchoscope after use utilizing standard precautions
Assist the anesthesia provider with hemodynamically unstable patient episodes
Run blood gas analysis as requested
Participate in rotation of call
Demonstrate commitment to teamwork, by contributing to the team to meet department needs, offering assistance to others, carrying fair share of the workload, and coordinating patient care with other members of the team
Contribute to resolving conflict. Utilize problem-solving skills to promote a positive work environment and seeks assistance in resolving conflict when needed
Demonstrate department accountability; contributes to and attends Department staff and/or education meetings; participate in Department projects or committees; use downtime productively
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
High School Diploma - OR- equivalent
Two (2) years of employment as a non-certified Anesthesia Technician, or clinical experience in an accredited hospital with operating room
Must obtain BLS certification within the orientation period.
