Providence Assistant Imaging Technician in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Assistant Imaging Technician to Providence Saint Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. This is a full-time, night shift position with full benefits. Schedule is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
We are seeking an Assistant Imaging Technician who will perform functions which assist the CT Technologist imaging staff in specific or multiple modalities. Utilizes knowledge and judgment with regard to departmental functions and facilitates efficient operations.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Maintain a constant awareness of daily workflow including exam scheduling status and serves as a liaison between multiple departments including but not limited to: imaging, registration, nursing, transportation and the patient
Communicate with referring physician offices about scheduling issues or exam delays
Assist with workflow to enhance efficiency and productivity within the department allowing the Technologists to focus more on direct patient care
Facilitate 'call-report' cases and calls the ordering providers if requested; applicable only to negative results, otherwise the Imaging Tech Assistant helps facilitate a communication between the radiologist and referring provider
Coordinate availability of prior images
Set up exam room prior to procedures
Assist imaging staff with exam preparation and completion as requested
Under the direction of the Technologist and in the CT department only, the Imaging Tech Assistant provide a screening form to the patient, and has the patient review and sign the form. The Imaging Tech Assistant then sign and witnesses the form. Based on training related to the completed content of the form, the Imaging Tech Assistant administers oral contrast to the patient
Under the direction of the Technologist, the Imaging Tech Assistant loads the power injector with appropriate contrast media, using proper labeling procedures and aseptic technique based on TJC guidelines
Required qualifications for this position includes:
High School Diploma -OR- GED
Coursework/Training: Completion of a medical terminology course required at time of hire, or within 60 days of hire
Current AHA-BLS card required at time of hire, or within 60 days of hire
Two (2) years of experience in healthcare or a customer service experience
Familiarity with computer software, applications, and equipment
Completion of pledge to Image Gently/Image Wisely within one month of hire
Ability to distinguish a full spectrum of primary colors
Ability to interact with many departments, office staff, physicians and patients
Basic medical terminology knowledge
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Coursework/Training: One (1) year of college
Diagnostic imaging experience
