Providence Health & Services Blood Bank Technical Supervisor in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Blood Bank Technical Supervisor to the Clinical Lab at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR.
In this position, you will:
Primarily focus on delivering service commitments defined for the location in which the department resides.
Deliver services in a highly cost effective manner while maintaining appropriate licensures and conditions as required by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), and the Quality Plan and the Laboratory Compliance Program.
Have initial job elements that may include initiation of new procedures, assisting with installation and correlation of new equipment, training or re-training of employees and other activities routinely associated with a “start up” Laboratory organization because the Providence Health & Services - Portland Service Area (PHS-PSA) Laboratory reorganization is in the early stages of development.
Participate in projects associated with Core and RRL development, relocation, and department consolidations in addition to maintaining ongoing technical department operations and service levels to ensure that budgeted financial results are achieved.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related science
Documented leadership coursework
6 years of progressive technical laboratory experience in a high volume facility
Familiarity with all aspects of technical department operations, including cost effective management of labor and supplies
Familiarity with workflow and operational processes between technical and non-technical laboratory functions
Ability to identify root causes for operational and financial variances and remediate
Demonstrated ability to resolve service failures and initiate analyses to develop long term solutions
Demonstrated ability to work with disparate groups across multiple shifts
In compliance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) - criminal background check and finger printing may be required for the position, based on assigned duties.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Specialist in Blood Bank Technology Certification (SBB)
