Providence is calling a Clinical Document Specialist - Clinical Data Entry Document Management (1.0 FTE, Day) to Providence Office Park Portland in Portland, OR

Shfit: Monday through Friday - 8 hours a day

We are seeking a Clinical Document Specialist - Clinical Data Entry Document Management that will be responsible to enter essential healthcare documents/information into the electronic medical record from paper or other electronic medical record systems into Providence Electronic Medical Record. In addition, ensures the medical documents/information is entered accurately into the EMR.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Recognize a large variety of medical documents from all age groups and accurately enters essential healthcare documents into the EMR

  • Extract pertinent documents from paper chart for scanning according to project guidelines, when needed

  • Reconcile incoming medical records/data to existing clinical information in electronic medical records

  • Enter essential healthcare information as prepared by Clinical Data Reviewer into the electronic medical record, such as diagnosis, medications, allergies and other clinical data from paper or electronic source for entry into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) following established data entry standards and scopes

  • Demonstrate ability to prepare, scan and index medical documents into the EMR using appropriate computer systems/programs

  • Operate multi-line telephone system; routes calls and responds to inquiries

  • Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) comprehensive checks and resolution of discrepancies

  • Monitor and update production and QA results onto spreadsheets or databases

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Coursework/Training: Course work in medical terminology/spelling, medical documentation -OR- equivalent education/experience

  • Two (2) years experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting with one year being in medical records management, paper or electronic

  • One (1) year experience with advanced computer applications (i.e. multiple electronic medical record programs, electronic appointment scheduling, scanning/indexing programs, Word and Excel)

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Six (6) months Medical Assistant experience

  • Six (6) months Experience with EPIC and OnBase
