Providence Health & Services Clinical Support Coordinator - Utilization Review Quality Management in Portland, Oregon

Providence is calling a Clinical Support Coordinator - Utilization Review Quality Management (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Office Park Portland in Portland, OR

Shift: Monday through Friday 8am - 4:30pm

We are seeking a Clinical Support Coordinator - Utilization Review Quality Management that wil be responsible for performing duties in support of the core functional areas of case management. The work focuses on coordination and technical support of the programs.

This position functions in a team environment, providing requested services in a centralized setting on behalf of the PMG clinics. Serves as an expert resource to PMG providers and staff concerning processes relating to case management.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Act as a resource and contact for the PMG Case Management Program

  • Receive and review inpatient and outpatient reports

  • Partner with Case Manager on triaging service needs

  • Receive and appropriately triages phone calls or requests from Providence hospital-based physicians (e.g., Emergency Department or Hospitalist physician) who are requesting coordination of patients care

  • Assess and delegate appropriate case management cases

  • Coordinate discharge services with hospitalists

  • Coordinate high cost, high risk, high utilization cases determined by Providence Health Plan

  • Track program outcomes against stated policies

  • Compile program reports

  • Receive and triages inquiries regarding quality of care, and Case Management issues

  • Serve as a liaison and resource to the patient, clinic staff and centralized professional staff for problem resolution

  • Assist in developing or revising department or unit policies, procedures, and work flows internal phone lists and external contact lists that are appropriate to position function/role

  • Assist in coordination and scheduling appointments for follow-up

  • High patient volume requires the ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks

  • The variety of age groups and medical problems encountered requires the individual to be patient, caring and to understand patient and family members needs

  • Anticipate patient and physicians needs requiring initiative and flexibility

  • Review patients charts prior to patient follow-up calls from inpatient hospitalization or emergency department visit

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • National certification as a Medical Assistant -OR- Obtain within one (1) year of hire

  • Two (2) years of Clinic experience

  • Knowledge, skills and abilities that are typically acquired through completion of a certified medical assistant program

  • Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient computer and keyboarding skills

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Three (3) years of experience in a utilization management function -OR- Working knowledge of utilization management function

  • Epic software experience

  • Experience in database management and spreadsheets

  • Knowledge of database management and spreadsheets

  • Working knowledge in a utilization management function
