Providence Driver - Elderplace in Portland, Oregon
Description:
Providence is calling a Driver - Elderplace Transportation (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence ElderPlace in Portland, OR.
We are seeking a Driver - Elderplace Transportation who will pick up and deliver geriatric, frail and/or physically limited ElderPlace participants to and from their destinations in regular or specially equipped vehicles, depending upon the individual geriatric participants needs.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Escort geriatric participants from door through door in a safe and courteous manner
Report any geriatric participant or caregiver requests for changes in 'drop off' or 'pick up' locations
Follow established schedules and adjust accordingly to meet unanticipated changes
Determine the safest and most efficient pick-up and delivery routes
Maintain current narrative of route
Safely transfer geriatric participants (1 person transfer) to and from wheelchair and vehicles
Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintains them in a clean, orderly, and safe condition
Maintain standard records; such as logs of geriatric passengers transported; vehicles serviced; miles driven; and gasoline purchased
Operate equipment in a safe manner and in compliance with Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles licensing regulations
Assist with delivery of medications, meals, and other supplies to geriatric participants
Utilize knowledge of AHA-BLS to initiate geriatric participant emergency care
Take appropriate action in the event of an unusual incident involving either a geriatric participant or a vehicle
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.
5 years driving experience.
Valid driver's license.
Driving record consistent with GOP Safe Driving Policy 330 Incident Point Matrix at time of hire.
No more than 1 moving violation or 1 chargeable accident within the last 3 years.
AHA-BLS within 6 months of hire.
Current caregivers have until 1/1/2019 to obtain AHA-BLS certification.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- 1 year experience in transporting individuals with special mobility needs.
