Providence is calling a EKG Technician - Electrodiagnostics (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland , OR
We are seeking a EKG Technician - Electrodiagnostics that will perform electrocardiography exams on inpatients and outpatients. May assist Physicians with technical component of Stress Electrocardiographs and/or Stress Echocardiograms. Obtains 12-lead EKG's, Holter Monitor application and recordings, Event Monitor application and recordings and Signal Average EKG Recordings from In-Patients and Out-Patients. Maintains office procedures and processing of patient data, using a variety of information systems. May scan Holter monitor recordings.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Adhere to Hospital and department appearance guidelines
Perform electrocardiograms on patients obtaining the highest quality studies possible while ensuring the least amount of patient discomfort possible
Provide patient comfort by establishing good rapport and professionalism, communicating and explaining procedures as appropriate
Request from patients or families for clinical information is deferred to patient's nurse or Doctor
Personal interactions with and treatment of patients during exams is individualized, as appropriate, to patient's age, needs and condition
Patient's privacy needs are individualized and respected and complied with as appropriate to age and wishes
Comply with quality control policies and procedures of the department
Orientation and training of new staff and students
Possibly assist in type/transcribe reports
Position patients in a manner which is safe, utilizing the appropriate safe patient handling equipment and technique, allowing patients to be comfortable both physically and emotionally
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
High School Diploma/ GED -OR- equivalent education/experience related to this role
Coursework/Training: Successful completion of basic ECG course -OR- Knowledge of ECG rhythms and interpretation
Current CPR certification
Experience in EKG testing, direct patient care and/or working within the hospital setting
