Providence Health & Services - Washington desires to hire a full-time ETL Developer II, Healthcare Intelligence ("ETL Developer II") in Portland, Oregon. The ETL Developer II designs, develops, documents, maintains, and operates the extract, transform and load (ETL) processes that populate the Enterprise Data Warehouse and related databases from various transaction systems and other data sources. The ETL Developer II works with other Healthcare
Intelligence team members and Information Systems staff in cross-functional teams to deploy analytical solutions in support of Providence Health & Services.
The ETL Developer II may lead projects of high technical complexity and will also set direction for ETL standards, will optimize and administer the ETL platforms, plan for growth and scalability, oversee deployments and upgrades, and will mentor junior ETL developers. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Healthcare Intelligence Systems.
Specifically, the ETL Developer II's duties shall include:
Develop and maintain ETL processes that meet the business and technical requirements of the specific project and of the overall Enterprise Data Warehouse data integration portfolio.
Document all processes and support source code control using standard tools and processes.
Explore and profile source system data to inform the technical and business requirements.
Identify relevant data sets from transaction systems through hands-on analysis, documentation review, and consultation with application teams.
Design database structures using standard design methods and modeling tools.
Ensure that all assets and processes adhere to all quality assurance, security, reliability and usability standards set by the Healthcare Intelligence program.
Resolve production problems through root cause analysis, data investigation, debugging and testing.
Assure consistency and maintainability of new assets and processes by facilitating design reviews by specialists and other architects.

- Master's Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology,Management Information Systems, Mathematics, or related field, as well as three years ofexperience in ETL, software development, or data management.
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology,Management Information Systems, Mathematics, or related field, as well as five years ofexperience in ETL, software development, or data management.
Additionally, the position requires Experience with the following:
ETL development processes and best practices using standard ETL tools like Informatica PowerCenter, Microsoft SSIS.
Advanced SQL skills including stored procedures, triggers and advanced functions.
Relational database design principles; performance tuning, indexing and compression, transaction management and partitioning.
Programming skills in VB, C#, .NET, UNIX shell, or Java.
Data transport methodologies and standards: secure file transfer, HL7, XML, web services.
Data warehousing and business intelligence principles; familiarity with quantitative methods.
Project management principles; Agile development methodology and other SDLC principles; testing, peer review and ongoing quality assurance processes.
Source code control; Microsoft Team Foundation Server; project deployment across multiple environments.
Participation in on-call rotation to support 24x7 operations.
Healthcare, clinical, and administrative processes and data.
