Providence is calling a Instructional Designer to Providence Health & Services in Portland, OR .
We are seeking a Instructional Designer to designs, develops, and implements core training materials. The Instructional Designer is responsible for establishing processes and tools for identifying training needs, creating and maintaining training content, developing courseware, and evaluating training effectiveness. Using established instructional design models, the Instructional Designer is accountable for creating and operationalizing training programs utilizing a variety of delivery methods including class-room based training, eLearning tutorials, and remote instructor led training, self-paced training documents, and training videos. Particular focus is around Electronic Medical Records Epic.
Essential Job Functions:
Participates in team initiatives and improvement projects; participates in cross functional projects and/or committees.
Leads or participates in Curriculum Design & Review Teams; collaborates with Curriculum Design & Review team members and subject matter experts to ensure learning content is effective and relevant.
Assesses and provides resources to meet educational needs related to clinician/provider/business professional use of health information systems.
Collaborates with Epic analysts, Clinical Informatics Specialists and others to develop training materials for Providence Epic build.
Supports the development of training materials that can effectively be delivered by Clinical Informatics Specialists or other trainers; trains CIS on how best to train content and learning objectives.
Develops and performs competency assessments of learning objectives related to clinician/business professional use of information systems.
Works with management to ensure course materials are current and relevant to training needs. Reviews and interprets feedback on the effectiveness of education interventions; Designs and delivers targeted training and remediation as necessary.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Technical Writing, Organizational Development, Informatics, Information Services, or equivalent work/educational experience.
Minimum of four years of experience in roles focused on creating, designing, and writing training materials.
Minimum of two years of experience supporting clinician and healthcare business use of an EMR system, with expertise in hospital or ambulatory clinical computer applications.
Certification in one or more Epic modules. Or certification must occur within 6 months.
Demonstrates knowledge of professional standards (for licensed nurses, physicians and other clinicians as well as other healthcare business professionals), as reflected in the appropriate practice act of the state where licensed, if applicable.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of adult learning styles; ability to create learning content and blended learning curriculum utilizing established instructional design models and the 10/20/70 Learning Model.
Demonstrates ability to exercise independent judgment in developing solutions and work with moderate supervision.
Demonstrates ability to deliver training both in a one-on-one basis and in a group or classroom setting.
Demonstrates ability to create training content that can be delivered consistently and successfully by a wide range of independent facilitators and trainers.
Demonstrates ability to develop online based training offerings; comfortable working with subject matter experts to capture and import content into e-learning tools.
Demonstrates skill in communicating information to a wide variety of audiences using a variety of media; strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrates ability to participate in project-based work; able to manage competing priorities.
Demonstrates emotional Intelligence; has awareness of personal strengths and development opportunities; utilizes others for balance, seeks feedback from others for growth and development; able to work collaboratively and promote a healthy learning environment.
Demonstrates Self-Direction; sets challenging objectives and self-defined standards of excellence to continually improve personal performance; Performs challenging tasks efficiently and effectively; Anticipates problems and takes corrective action prior to completing the task.
Demonstrates ability to effectively work with geographically separated teams.
Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Minimum of two years of experience in a position working with a clinical information system within a healthcare setting.
