A highly motivated post-doctoral research fellow is soughtto join the Laboratory of Cancer Immunobiology at the Earle A. Chiles ResearchInstitute in the Robert W. Franz Cancer Center at the Providence CancerInstitute. Dr. Hong-Ming Hu is looking for exceptional candidates with aPh.D. in Immunology or a related field, a record of productive research, andthe ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research efforts.

Providence is calling a Post Doctoral Research Fellow to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.

In this position, you will:

  • Strive to create a training environment that stimulates creativity and nurtures professionalism, and puts postdoctoral fellows on a path to their future.

  • Participate in a fellowship that lasts for one year and may be renewed annually based on demonstrated progress of the Fellows IDP. They will not typically extend past 5 years.

  • Be expected to apply for external funding within 2 years of their assignment and are expected to submit at least one 1st author manuscript within the first 3 years of their assignment; then one per year thereafter.

  • Perform complex biomedical experiments in support of a research activity or specialized scientific service laboratory.

  • Be expected to exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for solving problems.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Doctorate degree in a discipline pertinent to biomedical research

  • Advanced training and experience with in vivo procedures, including murine colony management, genotyping, intravenous injections and in vivo infection or tumor models

  • Experience in presenting original research in oral and written format is essential, as is proven success in writing and publishing original research

  • Expertise in flow cytometry, primary cell isolation and culture, and molecular biology

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • PhD in immunology -or- experience in the field of immunology
