Providence Health & Services Transfusion Safety Officer in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a Transfusion Safety Officer (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Groth Building Portland in Portland, OR.
The Transfusion Safety Officer would be responsible for developing a robust Patient Blood Management Program and evaluate the need for a Bloodless Surgery Program for the Oregon Region to remain competitive with other local health systems.
Regional travel is involved with this position.
In this position, you will:
Support the Patient Blood Management Program and collaborate with all levels of clinical and medical personnel to evaluate transfusion management strategies.
Assist in establishing policies, protocols, and procedures to support blood management and utilization models that meet regulatory standards and guidelines related to evidence-based transfusion medicine practices.
Establish a process to track, audit, and analyze key performance metrics and will offer recommendations to address areas of concern to reduce costs, improve safety, and improve treatment efficacy.
Serve as a resource related to blood management and administration and transfusion related safety issues, which includes the preparation and presentation of education materials to accomplish this task.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing
State of Oregon Registered Nurse license
5 years clinical experience -or- equivalent combination of exp and education
5 years hospital experience in a progressively responsible position, requiring contact with various departments
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Healthcare, or Business Administration
SABM Patient Blood Management Certificate course completion
5 years of clinical experience in adult medical surgical
