Providence Director of Stop Loss Programs (Remote) in Renton, Washington

Providence is calling a Director of Stop Loss Programs who will:

  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership in all interactions related to identifying, managing, and evolving Providence Health plan's preferred stop loss relationships

  • Consult with Account Managers (AM), Account Executives (AE) and Underwriters (UW) on renewal and new business stop loss strategies to successfully meet Providence Health Plan growth and financial objectives

  • Develop and lead a high performing, professional stop loss department with clear accountability for delivering results

  • Oversee and manage stop loss department operations to assure that standards of excellence are met and tracked with actionable reporting and appropriate testing and auditing

  • Provide supervision, development and support to stop loss analysts to assure compliance with regulatory and policy requirements and service level standards

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Plan leaders to create and implement strategies and policies that support, product development efforts, profitable growth, development of special risk arrangements, business expansion and diversification according the long range plan

  • Guides development, monitoring and achievement of department service level standards

  • Fosters high performing relationships with Sales, Product and Underwriting departments

  • Serve as the key resource and liaison between stop loss carrier, AM, AE, UW, ASO groups, and consultant as it relates to stop loss contracting and performance

  • Coordinating quote requests for prospects and renewals

  • Collaborating with stop loss partners to win business, engage externally with producers, consultants and PHP staff

  • Identify and meet stop loss carriers needs for reporting, including custom reports

  • Present and/or coordinate the presentation of reports, provide analysis and make recommendations based on reporting information

  • Develop, implement and evolve process and procedures to meet Stop Loss partners requirement for monitoring, reporting and disclosure of risk and claimant information needed to appropriately underwrite

  • Ability to express, explore and facilitate change in collaboration with Stop Loss vendors, IS, Informatics, Underwriting, Finance and Operations as required to develop and execute upon short and long term Stop Loss strategies

  • Develop, implement and evolve process and procedures with internal departments to allow for pre-funding or other arrangements that assist clients in managing cash flow for large shock claims

  • Create and execute a dynamic multi-year plan for stop loss capabilities and expansion in new and existing markets

  • Hires and manages Stop Loss staff and identifies training needs of staff and conducts performance evaluations

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, or related field

  • 10 or more years experience in self-insured health plan requirements

  • Experience directing others through promoting teamwork, group decision-making, delegation, training and coaching

  • Stop Loss, ASO, or TPA background with strong understanding of Stop Loss and the self-insured market needs

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's DegreeBusiness Administration

  • 5 yearsleadership experience

Salary Range:

Washington (Puget Sound) / Oregon (Portland):

  • Minimum: $61.43

  • Maximum: $100.85

Eastern Washington (Richland, Spokane, Walla Walla):

  • Minimum: $54.66

  • Maximum: $89.74

Oregon (Hood River, Medford, Seaside):

  • Minimum: $57.27

  • Maximum: $94.02
