We are seeking a Manager, Business Development who will be locally based at our 259-bed hospital in San Pedro and will be responsible for developing relationships with primary care and specialty providers to support clinical institute growth, identifying and implementing new business opportunities, and building partnerships that advance the growth goals of the ministry.

The position, along with the Service Area Executive Director of Strategy and Business Development, is responsible for building and fostering relationships in the community and identifying demand for services at the ministry. This includes physician and clinic relationship management, partnership development, and coordination with the Providence Physician Enterprise, ambulatory care network, and other shared services to drive growth. In addition, the role will represent the ministry in the community and this would include developing employer relationships, identifying and attending community events, and supporting ministry communications and marketing efforts.

In this position you will:

  • Initiate and facilitate new business development opportunities through proactive relationships with physicians

  • Conduct regular direct contact with physicians and office staff (including medical staff and non-medical staff physicians), establishing a positive relationship, identifying opportunities, and gathering market intelligence

  • Lead physician outreach leveraging CRM, shares relevant information with Ministry Leadership, and holds Ministry teams accountable for addressing physician concerns and growth opportunities

  • Respond to complex customer concerns, researching patient history as needed. Coordinate with Perioperative Services representatives to resolve situations

  • Utilize technology and database applications to identify provider growth opportunities in Ministry Service area

  • Assist in the planning process of physician programs to promote physicians within the hospital setting, to the community, and between physicians

  • Work collaboratively with physician leadership in all aspects of service line development. Ensure alignment and support of strategic priorities, maintaining strong, collaborative relationships to better understand the needs of service line programs

  • Maintain and analyze activity reports on physician performance regarding inpatient/outpatient utilization

  • Collaborate with Ministry and Region communication and marketing teams to identify opportunities or gaps in the market, support clinical and other service communication with providers, and amplify campaigns in the market

  • Represent the Service Area Business Development Leader and service area goals at local Ministry

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Service Line or related field or equivalent experience

  • 5 years health care industry physician liaison or sales experience within a hospital, medical group/IPA or related health care organization

  • Understands the dynamics of physicians, incentives, alignment models, clinical programs and how all interact with the health care delivery system

  • Demonstrates knowledge of healthcare market, program development, business modeling, and marketing, including experience preparing business and sales plans

  • Experienced in overall business analysis including marketing, quality, and financial data

  • Ability to share performance data transparently and accurately with physicians and develop plans for improving network performance

  • Able to establish strong team relationships and build trust and open communication with physicians, executives, managers, and Caregivers

  • Ability to represent PSJH in public settings

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a proven ability to analyze data/reports and extract meaningful information to drive change

  • Superior interpersonal and organizational skills in dealing with physicians, hospital, and System administration peers and staff

  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written) at all levels of the organization

  • Well-organized and follows through with details

  • Efficiently and effectively solves complex problems

  • Takes initiative, prioritizes work, manages time, and responds effectively to rapid changing environments

  • Ability to assess Ministry market, including competitive analysis and partnership opportunities
