Providence is calling a RN Manager Nursing and Patient Care Services to the Nursing Service Administration Department at Providence Seaside Hospita in Seaside, OR. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), day shift position.

We are seeking a RN Manager Nursing and Patient Care Services - Nursing Service Administration that will assist the CNO in the administration and leadership of achieving the goals of the department, organization and clinical service area. Assumes responsibility for the oversight and outcomes of critical patient safety and quality initiatives and response to critical incidents by forecasting trends, setting strategic objectives, providing leadership and development to Nurse Supervisors, Outpaitent Infusion and Oncology, and through the implementation of actions to achieve defined clinical, financial and strategic outcomes. Demonstrates advanced communication skills and the ability to manage and mediate conflict, appropriately settling disputes while upholding the organization's commitment to core values, productivity and quality.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assist in problem solving administrative and/or Hospital/Department policies and procedures to facilitate quality patient care

  • Meet routinely with Nurses, Physicians, Nursing Supervisors, Case Managers and/or Acute Care Managers, Managers, Respiratory Therapist, other clinical departments and their leaders, and ancillary departments to assess needs in relation to providing quality care to the patients served

  • Identify needs for nursing and ancillary departments that provide patient care as it relates to the strategic plan, departmental objectives and support of clinical and management decisions

  • Identify methods to support or enhance nursing practice, patient throughput patient, placement and capacity management as well as overall patient outcomes

  • Modify Nursing Practice Standards based on scientific and research based principles

  • Determine needs, implements and evaluates human and fiscal resources for cost effective support of department goals, quality assessment, quality improvement, technology and evaluation projects

  • Identify Best Practices within the Region and facilitates practice improvements to enhance quality and cost outcomes

  • Assist in developing, coordinating, evaluating and interpreting department of Nursing activities, policies, goals and objectives within the Department(s)

  • Develop and manages the budget for the assigned departments

  • Continually updates knowledge about nursing trends, issues and areas of expertise and actively seeks opportunities to apply this knowledge to patient care, outcomes and practice

  • Develop staff and manager's expertise in data analysis, information technology, clinical, managerial and financial practice

  • Assess, plan, initiate and evaluates teaching/coaching based on assessment of person, professional or organizational needs

  • Develop and implements Practice Standards to support quality patient care and efficient patient throughput while maintaining excellent patient outcomes

  • Lead, strategically collaborates and implements quality improvement activities and outcomes for the North Coast

  • Identify and implement methods to facilitate clinical and patient flow opportunities for work redesign

  • Oversee the recruitment, selection and development of nurse leaders within a defined area, and assumes accountability for the recruitment, retention, development and satisfaction of staff within the area

  • Assure accountability for patient, staff and physician satisfaction within defined area, and assures alignment within defined area, with organizational goals and values

  • Act as a change agent to assist the department to prepare for, influence and respond to the dynamic nature of healthcare as well as proactively plans for future directions in clinical practice to support the highest quality of patient care

  • Represent Department of Nursing and patient care on internal and external committees and task forces locally and regionally

  • Maintain knowledge and is a resource for rules and regulations regarding nursing practice in Oregon, the ANA and other standards of practice organizations and TJC

  • Advocate for excellence in patient care and nursing practice, for changes in process of care delivery, and for professional development opportunities

  • Advocate for, develops, uses and coaches others in utilization of resources available to assist when resolving an ethical dilemma that protects patient rights and autonomy

  • Advocate for systems and standards that support the dependent, independent and interdependent nursing interventions

  • Provide consultation and guidance to nursing units on achieving quality, productivity and patient satisfaction goals

  • Develop and integrates new business models and develop models of care/service

  • In partnership with other Managers, Clinical Services leads efforts to reduce length of stay and readmissions with attention to service, safety and quality

  • Define, develop, and directs implementation of departmental goals and programs for the organization and recommend directional changes as appropriate

  • Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of existing and new programs aimed at improving care delivery, patient safety, quality, service and other Providence Seaside Hospital and Oregon Region System objectives

  • Work collaboratively with leadership to develop clinical programs to build patient care volume focusing on selective service lines and programs

  • Enhance strategic and programmatic relationships with physicians, other health care staff and community members

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in applied clinical field

  • Current Nursing License in the State of Oregon

  • Five (5) years of Healthcare/direct clinic patient care experience with experience in progressive leadership roles

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Healthcare specific emergency management experience
