Providence is calling a Nurse Technician (Inpatient Rehab Spinal Injury, Day Shift, 0.2 FTE) to Providence St Luke's Rehabilitation Institute in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Participate in all aspects of the nursing care process under the guidance of the registered nurse and within the scope of the nurse technician’s education
Assist in implementation of nursing process to extent allowed by education. Administer and document basic nursing care including vital signs and observation of signs and symptoms, and report any reactions or changes in condition to the supervising RN. Participate in patient care conferences.
Perform nursing procedures as assigned and as trained, such as bedside testing of blood glucose monitoring, hemocult screening, specific gravity, urinary catheterization and other treatments and procedures as trained and validated by the approved nursing program and as delegated by the RN.
Actively assist in evaluation / updating the patient’s plan of care by reviewing subjective and objective data and accurately documenting the updates on the care plan. Update the plan of care in collaboration with the RN and other team members.
Document accurately, promptly and appropriately according to hospital policy. Utilize hospital electronic medical record systems as trained.
Contribute to the assigned unit nursing team, functioning as a member of the unit. Assist patient care staff complete their patient care assignments.
Effectively assist in the identification of educational and emotional needs of the patient and / or family.
Protect patient and employee confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications. Maintain full knowledge of policy and practices related to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
Willing, accept projects and work assignments as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned, under the direct supervision of the RN and within scope of nursing technician practice as defined by WAC.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Currently enrolled and in good standing in an approved nursing program approved by the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission, Washington State Department of Health; or other state nursing approval body for out of state residents
Written documentation from the approved nursing program of the current level of educational preparation and an assessment of the knowledge and skills of the individual
Completed one academic term which includes a clinical medical / surgical rotation
Current WA State Nursing Technician Registration
Current Healthcare Provider BLS as certified by the American Heart Association
Proficient in speaking and writing English
Ability to work independently
Complete a formal generic and on-unit orientation including skills checklist and medication test
