Providence Health & Services RN – Staff Educator in Spokane, Washington


Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) – Staff Educator (Inservice Education, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will:

  • Conduct facility orientation for all staff.

  • Provide position specific orientation for clinical staff, RN, LPN, NAC, and HUC.

  • Assist with preceptor responsibilities for new staff in assigned areas and assigns schedule for on-floor orientation.

  • Assist in assessment of orientee’s learning needs and ensures learning opportunities to meet these needs.

  • Monitor individual orientation and facilitates additional training if necessary.

  • Validate generalist nursing skills during the orientation process.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in this state

  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification

  • 2 years of experience in a hospital, long term care facility or other related health care facility and demonstrates teaching experience

  • Experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices

  • Working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic technique to include universal precautions

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • APIL Certification in infection control

Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, Washington is located on the campus of Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital. Our Transitional Care Unit is designed for patients coming out of the hospital who need skilled nursing care, end of life care, or rehabilitation for those recovering from surgery or who have a functional loss from illness, disease, or an accident. Our Long Term Care unit provides skilled nursing in a residential setting, addressing the needs of our residents through creating a sense of community and home and providing a model of care that is resident-centered.
