Providence is calling a Social Worker ( Social Services , Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Maintain and promote positive, open and honest interpersonal relationships with customers (physicians, employees, visitors, patients, and other PSHMC publics). Provides high quality service to all customers; focuses on understanding customers’ needs and follows through. Demonstrates respect for the capabilities, different cultures and or personalities of co-workers and Medical Center publics within the mission/values of PSHMC.
Promote and demonstrate effective, open and honest written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate self-management behaviors which reflect a positive image of PSHMC, following established policies and procedures and promote an efficient, cost effective work environment.
Demonstrate good stewardship of resources by treating property of customers, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and co-workers with care and respect.
Work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of staff and other disciplines for problem solving without blaming.

Practice Leadership functions in Social Work Services, with social worker group and on units:
Seek to continually meet or exceed social work standards of professional work by facilitating the meeting of quality care outcomes.
Participate in Social Work Services shared leadership approach to management.
Stay updated on community and regional resource availability, as well as, age, financial and diagnosis related criteria necessary to access these resources.
Lead or participate on identified committees/task forces within Social Work Services groups related to social work, standards, education, operational methods, and quality improvement.
Lead or participate in performance/quality improvement efforts at multiple levels including self improvement, Social Work improvement, services line/unit improvement, and interdepartmental improvement efforts. Contributes consistently to PI/QI work and outcomes.
Contribute unique social worker perspective in service lines as they are developed.
Effectively functions as a liaison between patients/families, staff and physicians with special attention given to strengths and barriers of personal and social systems that may impact communication.
Maintain record keeping activity to provide information on departmental productivity.
Meet department deadlines on record keeping activity.
Participate professionally in assessing quality of care provided to patients/families.
Actively participate in a problem-solving process based on comprehensive analysis of situation and demonstrates the use of logical, reasoned, factual and systematic approach.
Participate in cross-training and recognizes its necessity to the functioning and work of the department.
Social Work Process: Implement the social work process as an essential means of meeting patient/family needs which are determined through holistic assessment of life systems:
Assessment: Assess and legibly documents and/or dictates psychosocial history, resources, problems areas and care plans as contributing member of treatment team.
Planning: Utilize social work assessment to formulate appropriate/holistic ongoing care plan and discharge plan consistent with patient/family, their community needs, and the interdisciplinary process.
Intervention / Implementation: Intervene based on assessed needs, referrals from interdisciplinary team, legal requirements and interdisciplinary plan of care. Implements and coordinates resources including community resources as needed.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master's degree in Social Work, required within 2 months in position.
Acceptable references from previous employers.
Possess a valid and unencumbered Washington State License/Registration for one of the following: Licensed Advance Social Worker or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker required (OR)
Applicants who apply for an Agency Affiliated Counselor credential through the Department of Health within seven days of employment can provide services within the agency for up to 60 days while the department processes their application. Applicants must stop working on the 60th day of employment if the credential has not been issued. During this time, applicants may not provide unsupervised counseling until the department of their employer has completed a criminal background check. Unsupervised means the supervisor is not physically present at the location where the counseling occurs.
