Providence Health & Services Surgery Scheduler - Orthopedics *$1,000 Sign-On Bonus* in Spokane, Washington


Providence is calling a Surgery Scheduler (Pmg Orthopedics, Day shift, 1.0 FTE) to Physician Management Group in Spokane, Washington. Providence is offering a $1,000 Sign-On Bonus to external candidates hired for this position.

In this position you will:

  • Coordinates patient referrals, verifies insurance eligibility and ensures authorizations are obtained by date of visit. Makes appropriate arrangements for patient when authorization cannot be obtained.

  • Coordinates and schedules surgeries and other ancillary tests as ordered by the practice provider. Secures operating room block time and ensures maximum efficiency and productivity.

  • Maintains waiting room to include ensuring magazines are organized, there is no trash in the waiting area, maintaining kids area etc.

  • Provides front desk coverage as needed. Answers incoming phone lines and schedules patient appointments according to office policy. Takes complete phone messages, routes and/or screens phone calls as appropriate.

  • Initiates patient check-in and check-out for all scheduled appointments. Prepares charts, fee slips, and labels for scheduled appointments. Obtains and inputs updated patient demographic and insurance information; photocopies front and back of all insurance cards and verifies insurance eligibility.

  • Collects patient co-payments and outstanding patient balances.

  • Reconciles cash box, fee slips, co-payments, and receipts daily and submits to office manager on a daily basis.

  • Prints missing charge report and denial report on a weekly basis. Works report and submits corrections to billing office in a timely fashion. Provides feedback to office staff and provider on reasons for errors and makes suggestions for decreasing future deficiencies.


Required qualifications for this position include :

  • 1 year of Medical office/billing setting or financial institution.
