Providence Health & Services Principal Portfolio Analyst in Texas

We are seeking a Principal Portfolio Analyst who will:

  • Provide subject matter expertise in overseeing a defined portfolio of applications for Providence St Joseph Health organization

  • Support the overall success of their domain and collaborates with IS leadership to ensure strategic initiatives align with service line portfolio roadmaps

  • Conduct intake of applications and projects, ensuring integrity and accuracy of application inventory, and the support of application rationalization efforts

  • Perform periodic assessments and analysis of the state, risk, cost, and technical viability of application portfolio

  • Proactively research and define application technology standards and lead efforts to reduce technical debt

  • Be Accountable for building and sustaining effective relationships with IS and business leadership, other technical teams, and vendors

In this position you will:

  • Govern the overall application portfolio for their service line

  • Perform periodic assessments and analysis of the state, risk, cost, and technical viability of application portfolio

  • Ensure integrity of data within Application Portfolio Management tool

  • Collaborate with IS and Business leadership to understand demands of the business and support alignment of IT and business strategies

  • Actively participate in governance meetings and technology committees and can influence stakeholder engagement and support

  • Perform discovery and intake of applications and projects through IS Intake and Affiliation work

  • Assess work inclusive of cost assessment, scope clarification, implementation and ongoing support needs, etc.

  • Work with resource teams to determine availability, and collaborates with IS leadership to adjust priorities accordingly

  • Proactively identify potential changes to the application portfolios; explore rationalization and sunset opportunities

  • Investigate and validate potential projects and communicates impact to IS leadership

  • Manage technical debt and understand technical platform of applications in their inventory

  • Provide technology guidance and recommendations that maximize the creation of business value in a long-term sustainable manner

  • Develop, document, and update strategy and roadmap for applications in their service line portfolio to leadership

  • Conduct application portfolio meetings and provides recommendations to improve overall portfolio

  • Support leadership team with vendor interaction and management

  • Identify vendors, methodologies, and platforms for reliable serviceable, and highly available applications

  • Stay current with new and emerging technologies and is knowledgeable of the direction of software vendors

  • Develop a thorough understanding of application operations, major incidents and problem areas

  • Mentor other team members and develops methods for continuously improving productivity and efficiency within the organization

  • Accept and manage changing priorities and address issues quickly and professionally


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Management, Business, or Healthcare Oriented degree or a combination of equivalent education/experience

  • 8 years Closely related Senior level experience

  • Experienced in all phases of application lifecycle, interfacing with both technical teams and multiple lines of business users

  • Experienced in leading and facilitating meetings and team activities at all levels of the organization

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree in Information Technology, Management, Business or Healthcare Oriented degree or a combination of equivalent education/experience
