Providence is calling a Chaplain (Hospice, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Hospice of Seattle in Tukwila, Washington. In this position you will:
Assess the spiritual needs and resources of the hospice patient, family, other care givers, and friends and assist with families using their faith in dealing with End of Life issues.
Establish and implement a plan of care and age appropriate spiritual interventions in accordance with the team’s goals that is: • respectful of and consistent with patients’/families’ goals and values • inclusive of the perspective of other team members and geared towards maximizing patients quality of life and comfort, promoting patients’ and families’ preparedness, and preventing crises
Provide counseling for the dying person to develop and strengthen his/her own spiritual beliefs and resources throughout the dying process.
Facilitate development of appropriate spiritual expressions within Hospice team and with patients, family and friends.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree Theology, religious studies or religious education from a school accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
Coursework/TrainingCompletion of a minimum of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), preferably within a health care setting.
Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), or National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC) is required within three (3) years of the date of hire.
Ecclesiastical Endorsement by a recognized faith group for ministry in a specialized setting.
Ordination or commissioning to function in a ministry of pastoral care.
Current Washington State Driver’s license.
Healthcare Provider CPR certification earned through training approved by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- 2 years Two years of Chaplain experience is preferred.
